- ●IIT Kanpur has a lush green huge campus of 1055 acres. Due to some much of greenery, IITK campus is generally 2 degree celsius cooler than outside.
- There are a lot of hangout spaces like OAT, Mama Mio , CCD etc where you can make a lot of memories with friends
Dislikes
- Faculties are very well qualified but they lack in their teaching skills. It doesn't mean they are not able to deliver their points but students lack in getting interest in their classes.
- IIT Kanpur faces a location disadvantage.
Remarks :
Good aspects are Highly qualified Professors, a Lush green campus of 1055 Acres, the Best academic structure and Lab facilities in the Country, the Diversified range of Extracurricular activities, the Best placement statistics with 26.67 lakhs as median salary at the end of a phase of the Placement season. The bad aspect is Location: IIT Kanpur faces locational disadvantages in terms of opportunities as compared to IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi Admission Process: To get admission to IIT Kanpur, JEE Mains Exam(Clear the cutoffs to appear in JEE advanced)-->JEE advanced Exam(Get a good rank). Then, you need to appear in the counseling process, Now based on your category rank in JEE Advanced and based on your choice fillings, you are allowed a seat in IIT Kanpur. For IIT Economics, when I appeared in JEE advanced in 2022. IIT Kanpur Economics opened at 2403 general rank and closed at 3300 general rank. Preparation is Syllabus: 11th and 12th PCM Topics. But you need to prepare it on the advanced level
Course Curriculum Overview :
I am passionate about Economics. IIT Kanpur has the best ECO department among all the IITs. So, I opted for it. Most of the professors are PhD holders from well-reputed universities of the world. IITK has one of the best set of professors in the country. Though it depends on the professor, generally we have 2 quizzes, 1 mid-term exam, and 1 end-term exam. Generally, exams check your critical thinking ability. But it's fine if you attend all the classes, take proper notes in the class, and participate in classroom discussions. Since It is a government institution, so fee hike is generally low and is not done very frequently. IIT Kanpur provides a lot of scholarships to meritorious students. Internships Opportunities :
No, I haven't appeared for any Campus internship drive as of now. However I have done a paid internship in a MedTech startup named Menteve, which works on creating a portable EEG device. I worked as a market researcher for that company.
Placement Experience :
In the Graduating year, you can sit for campus placements. In phase 1 of the placement season of 2023-24, More than 200+ companies visited including Google, Microsoft, Mckinsey, Texas Instruments, and Samsung. 989 offers were made out of which 22 were international offers. Earlier, in the 2022-23 placement season, the Highest package offered was 4 crores. Since Phase 2 of placement season is still going on, the highest package can't be quoted right now. The median salary in the phase of placement season is 26.67 lakhs. As of phase 1, around 60% of students are placed. After getting the bachelor's degree, I will go for higher education.
Campus Life :
IITK Fests are Techkriti- Technical fest (March), Antaragni- Cultural fest(Oct.), Udghosh- Sports fest(Oct.). IIT Kanpur has one of the best library facilities in the country with a 3-story fully AC building and a collection of lacs of printed + digital books. IITK has a student gymkhana to facilitate student activities. It has 4 councils named 'The media and cultural council', 'games and sports council', 'Science and technology council' and 'Academic and career council'. IITK has more than a hundred clubs, societies, and cells to facilitate student extracurricular activities. You name it, you have it here. Find more details at students.iitk.ac.in. IIT Kanpur has a total of 15 hostels with 12 boys hostels and 3 girls hostels. The food quality is pretty decent. Also, It is very affordable since the food is subsidized. Campus placements start from the 7th semester for students, once the University criteria is fulfilled. As B. Tech Biotechnology is a newly introduced course, there is no Branch wise Placement data available for B.Tech Biotechnology as of now but the university does attract companies like Nestlé, Yakult, Dabur, Cognizant, Accenture, Infosys, HCLTech, and so on. The university stated the overall highest package was 60 LPA and the average placement was around 5.4 LPA. My ambition is to pursue a career in Biotechnology in R&D or QA/QC or Biopharmaceutical industry after graduation and enhance my technical knowledge.
