A review of RGGEC, Kangra
Likes
- My college has a good campus as compared to other colleges. It has good infrastructures, open theatre, sitting spaces, lifts, coolers, fans, airy wide rooms, projectors, parking lots etc.
- I also prefer the fact that my college is built in a rural area that doesn't have much outside interferences. It is al least 2-3kms away from the local market.
Dislikes
- There is no campus placement in the college and whatever come only 1-2% of students are able to get profited from it.
- The time interval from internal sessional is vey short only around 3 weeks. We have 3 sessional and a quiz.
Remarks :
I chose this college because it was the second closest to my hometown Mandi which was known was good academic teaching. my first preference was JNGEC, Sundernagar which was closest to my hometown and is also known as the best government engineering college in my state. As I am a LEET student, I got my admission through counseling of diploma holders and I had a percentage of 83.1, so I was able to gain admission to this college quite easily.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course completely on a whim for my diploma and had to pursue it further in my bachelor's. The faculty of my college is quite well-qualified and dignified. They are very experienced at what they do and can control students as well. The final exams come around every 5 months and their difficulty would be around 8.5/10. The fee of our college per semester lies about 24k to 34k, so there is no fee hike. The only scholarship that I have heard of is for outer state students who are from Jammu and Kashmir.
Internships Opportunities :
As I am currently in my 4th semester I didn't get a chance to apply for an internship or training. My seniors from the civil branch have applied for internships in "The Ultra Teach company" and some have also gone to train under PWD. The projects under PWD are mostly to build government buildings like employee residences.
Placement Experience :
The basic criteria for a student to make an appearance in the placements is to have no supplementary exams left and to have an above 6.5 GPA. The recruiters only come around once every 2 or 3 years. Therefore the chances of placement are very low. The highest package that I have heard of was around 10LPA for EEE. The placement percentage is about 5-10% on average. My plan after the degree is to prepare for the SSC JE exam.
Campus Life :
First of all, there comes the fresher's party and farewell party every year. then there are fests organized by at least three branches each semester which may be daytime or night fests. There is no shortage of academic books in every stream in the library. But there is a lack of other knowledgeable books like novels and journals. The sports fest is also organized under Branch fests. An inter-college or intra-college sports fest is also organized once a year. Every branch has a club named Society which is a caretaker of the social tasks of the college. I have not opted out for a hostel but I have heard good and bad things about it, so, I would rate it as an average experience.

Placements are decent. Eligibility is typically at CGPA 6.0 or higher. Recruiters include TCS, Infosys ,Oracle, Wellsfargo etc.Highest package this year reached around 3 crores per annum as it was a foreign offer.

placement are good many cse students have package in crores i think cse nad ece branch is good but other branch package is around 10 lakh if i would suggest students i suggest go for cse or ece branch because in the era of artificial intelligence nad machine learning these two branches are booming and the package are also best in these branches you can also try for gate exam after the civil mechanical or electrical you can get jib in public plus private jobs

The placement opportunities are given by institute. There is a placement committee. A few visited recruiters are ICICI,HDFC, DE Shaw, Deloitte, EY, etc. the average package of IIM sirmaur ranges around 14-15 LPA. All students get placed and is supported by institute.
