IIIT Una Admission Dates 2027

The 2027-28 admission cycle is expected to start with JEE Main registration in November 2026. B.Tech seats are assigned through JoSAA, while GATE scores and CCMT counselling are used for M.Tech admission. IIIT Una conducts its Ph.D selection process twice a year through a written test and an interview.

IIIT Una Courses and Fees

IIIT Una provides B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc, and Ph.D programmes. All four B.Tech branches follow the same total fee structure, while the three M.Tech options also carry an equal programme fee. The figures below are based on the 2026 official data.

Cyber Security and Data Sciences give B.Tech students options in current technology fields. At the postgraduate level, Microelectronics and VLSI Design provides a separate route into hardware design, an option that is not available at many other PPP-based IIITs.

IIIT Una Admission Process

Admission rules at IIIT Una depend on the programme. B.Tech applicants use JEE Main and JoSAA, M.Tech applicants enter through GATE and CCMT, and Ph.D applicants complete the institute's department-level selection process.

B.Tech Admission

IIIT Una does not conduct a separate entrance examination for B.Tech admission. Applicants must qualify through JEE Main before taking part in JoSAA online counselling.

• Complete 10+2 or an equivalent qualification with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
• Obtain a valid JEE Main score.
• Register for JoSAA, fill in course choices, accept the allotted seat, complete document verification, and pay the required fee.

In recent admission cycles, the General category closing rank for B.Tech CSE has usually fallen between 15,000 and 25,000. Cyber Security and Data Sciences generally close at slightly higher ranks than CSE, showing increased interest in these branches. Among the four B.Tech choices, ECE usually has the most accessible closing rank.

M.Tech Admission

For M.Tech admission, students need a relevant B.Tech or B.E. degree with at least 60% marks. The minimum is 55% for SC, ST, and PwD applicants. A valid GATE score in the appropriate engineering or science subject is required, and seats are distributed through the Centralised Counselling for M.Tech, known as CCMT.

Ph.D Admission

Ph.D selection takes place twice each year at the department level. Applicants must take a written test and attend an interview. The required qualification is an M.Tech, or a B.Tech supported by a valid GATE or UGC/CSIR NET score.

IIIT Una Placements

During the 2025 placement season, IIIT Una achieved a highest package of INR 30 LPA and an average package of INR 11.02 LPA. Of the eligible students, 82.95% secured placements. Recruiters represented IT products, IT services, analytics, semiconductor, and hardware businesses.

Amazon, Samsung, Deloitte, TCS, Infosys, Cisco, Reliance JIO, KPMG, and Cred were among the confirmed recruiters in 2025. The Cyber Security and Data Sciences programmes also bring in employers from cybersecurity and data analytics, adding to the usual IT services recruiter group.

The combination of CSE, Cyber Security, and Data Sciences allows the institute to connect with a broad range of technology employers. For postgraduate hiring, the Microelectronics and VLSI Design programme also attracts VLSI and semiconductor companies.

IIIT Una Scholarships

Central government scholarship programmes are available to eligible SC, ST, OBC, and EWS students at IIIT Una. These schemes can lower the effective cost of the INR 15.19 Lakhs B.Tech fee.

Students submit applications for these central schemes through the National Scholarship Portal at the beginning of each academic year. IIIT Una currently does not publish a separate merit scholarship funded by the institute.

IIIT Una Campus and Infrastructure

IIIT Una occupies an 80-acre campus at Village Saloh in Tehsil Haroli, District Una, Himachal Pradesh. Academic blocks, computing laboratories, and a central library support teaching and study. The location is 80 km from Jalandhar and 20 km from Una Railway Station, connecting it with the wider Punjab and Himachal region.

More than 600 students can stay in the campus's three hostel blocks. A 1:15 faculty-to-student ratio supports interaction with faculty members in teaching and research. Specialised laboratories cover cybersecurity, data science, VLSI design, and embedded systems. H.P. Power Corporation and H.P. Power Transmission Corporation participate as industry partners in the institute's joint venture structure, which supports links for applied research.

IIIT Una vs IIIT Dharwad vs IIIT Kalyani
