IIIT Raichur Important Dates 2027

Admission to the B.Tech courses depends on JEE Main, followed by centralised JoSAA seat allocation. The National Testing Agency has released the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 schedule. Only current and upcoming events are listed below.

The entrance test and application route differ by programme. B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA using JEE Main ranks. Ph.D applicants apply to IIIT Raichur and may need GATE, NET or an institute test, depending on their category. The Machine Learning certificate does not require an entrance examination.

IIIT Raichur Courses and Fees

Students can choose from three four-year B.Tech branches, several research programmes and a short-term Machine Learning certificate. All three B.Tech options follow the same fee structure. The CSE branch has the largest intake, with 80 seats.

Computer Science and Engineering is the institute's main B.Tech course. Students in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science study areas such as machine learning, deep learning, data engineering and intelligent systems. Mathematics and Computing combines core CSE subjects with algorithms, numerical methods and computational mathematics.

IIIT Raichur Admission Process

IIIT Raichur uses different selection methods for B.Tech, Ph.D and certificate admissions. B.Tech selection is handled through the national counselling system, while research and certificate applicants apply directly to the institute.

B.Tech Admission

There is no separate IIIT Raichur entrance test or direct B.Tech admission. A student's JEE Main rank determines seat allocation through JoSAA counselling.

• Applicants must pass 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
• The minimum 10+2 aggregate is 75%. SC, ST and PwD applicants need 65%.
• A valid JEE Main score is compulsory, but JEE Advanced is not needed.
• The process covers JoSAA registration, choice submission, seat allotment through rounds 1 to 6, online seat acceptance, document checks and physical reporting.

1. Appear for JEE Main and obtain a valid rank.
2. Register on the JoSAA portal when counselling begins.
3. Add IIIT Raichur and the preferred branches while filling choices.
4. Check the seat result for each of the six allotment rounds.
5. Accept the allotted seat online and complete the required payment.
6. Submit documents for verification and report physically as instructed.

Ph.D Admission

The Ph.D programme admits Regular full-time scholars, Direct applicants and External or Working Professional researchers. The Direct route is a fast-track option for B.Tech graduates with a strong academic record.

• A relevant B.Tech or M.Tech degree with at least 60% marks, or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale, is required.
• Selection can use a valid GATE score, UGC or CSIR NET qualification, or an institute-level test followed by an interview.
• Direct Ph.D applications are accepted from B.Tech graduates who have a strong GATE score or an exceptional academic record.

Certificate Course in Machine Learning

B.Tech and MCA graduates may apply directly for the Certificate Course in Machine Learning. No separate entrance examination is held. The course provides practical machine learning training for recent graduates and working professionals.

IIIT Raichur Cutoffs

The final JoSAA round in 2026 recorded the following General Category closing ranks for IIIT Raichur's three B.Tech branches.

OBC-NCL, SC and ST seats had much larger closing-rank numbers. Each of the three branches also provides female-only supernumerary seats.

IIIT Raichur Placements

Placement results have improved as successive B.Tech groups have graduated. In the 2025 season, the institute reported packages from INR 6 LPA to INR 46 LPA. The average stood at INR 18 LPA, the median was INR 14 LPA, and 68.8% of eligible students secured placements.

Employers come from software products, technology services and data analytics. Companies from the Bengaluru and Hyderabad corridors have recruited from the institute, supported by its central government status and academic connection with IIT Hyderabad. Graduates have entered software development, data engineering, cloud services and analytics roles.

IIIT Raichur Campus and Infrastructure

The institute uses the Government Engineering College campus in Raichur as its transit location. Students have access to shared classrooms, computer laboratories and a library. Hostel accommodation is provided for both male and female students.

The Karnataka government allotted 74 acres at Wadavatti on Gadwal Road for IIIT Raichur's permanent campus. Work on the site was active in 2026. Plans for the new campus include academic blocks, advanced research laboratories, a central library, separate men's and women's hostels, a sports complex and faculty housing.

IIIT Raichur has 520 students across the four B.Tech years and its Ph.D courses. Research is linked to IIT Hyderabad's work in computing, data science and communication engineering. Faculty members conduct research in machine learning, theoretical computer science and signal processing.

IIIT Raichur vs IIIT Dharwad vs IIIT Nagpur

Students considering IIIT Raichur during JoSAA may also examine IIIT Dharwad and IIIT Nagpur. All three are centrally funded IIITs that follow the Public-Private Partnership model, though Dharwad and Nagpur began several years earlier.

Among the three institutes, IIIT Raichur reported the highest 2025 average package. It is also the only one in this comparison with Mathematics and Computing as a separate branch. IIIT Dharwad and IIIT Nagpur have four to five more graduating groups, which has given them longer-established alumni communities and recruiter connections. The institutes receive central government support and attract a similar JoSAA applicant group.
