IIIT Tiruchirappalli, popularly known as IIIT Trichy, is an academic institute funded by the Government of India, Government of Tamil Nadu, and IT industry partners, including TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Ramco Systems, ELCOT and NAVITAS. IIIT Trichy is considered The Institute of National Importance; it was established in 2016 and currently receives academic and administrative support from NIT Trichy.
IIT Trichy offers B.Tech. and PhD programs. The institute has three departments and offers multiple specializations. The Admissions to B.Tech. are based on JEE Main rank. JEE Main 2021 April and May sessions scheduled for April 27-30 and May 24 – 28, 2021, have been postponed. Admissions are made via Centralized Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) and Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).
The first batch of engineering graduates has been placed in some top MNCs such as Amazon, TCS, Paytm, Infosys, Navitas, Ramco, Cognizant, etc. The average starting salary offered is around INR 12,70,000 per annum.

- IIIT Trichy is considered an institute of national importance. The MHRD approved it under the (PPP) non-profit public-private partnership model. Tech Giants such as TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Ramco, and Navitas are the industry partner that fund 15%. The remaining support is provided by the Government of India and State Government of Tamil Nadu; 50% and 35%, respectively.

IIIT Trichy has had an excellent placement drive for its first B. Tech. batch in 2020. Below are some key points.
- The highest package offered was INR 32 LPA.
- The highest package for internship stood at INR 2.25 LPA.
- The average package offered (for the top 10% of students) was INR12.7 LPA.
- The maximum number of students (50%) recruited in Core IT sector followed by IT Consultancy that recruited 25% students; while remaining students were placed in sectors like Analytics, Engineering & Technology.

Ques. What is the JEE Main rank required to get a seat in IIIT Trichy for CSE??
Ans. During JOSAA counselling, IITs, NITs and IIITs give their cutoff ranks; hence it varies every year. CSE is a popular course with high demand; hence cutoff is usually higher. For 2020, the cutoff for the general category for B.Tech. CSE program was 11431 – 21750, for the SC category, it was 1817 – 2119, and for EWS, it was 2881-3039.
Ques. NIT Trichy versus IIIT Trichy, what’s the difference in terms of admissions are concerned?
Ans. The admission process for IIIT Trichy and NIT Trichy is the same as any other institutions which come under the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The admissions are based on ranks secured in JEE Main exam. Few things to note as a difference is reservations of seats; in NIT Trichy, 50% of seats are reserved for local students, whereas IIIT Trichy doesn’t have this limitation. Since NIT Trichy is well established and high-ranking institutions, the cutoff is much higher. Please note that IIIT Trichy is only offering two B.Tech. programs, namely CSE and ECE, whereas NIT Trichy offers nine specializations.
Ques. How is IIIT Trichy?
Ans. Although IIIT Trichy doesn’t have its permanent campus yet. However, it’s making good progress under the mentorship of NIT Trichy. It’s operating from a temporary campus in Oxford Engineering College since July 2020 and will be shifted to its permanent campus soon. So, overall, you may have few challenges in terms of temporary campus and hostel facilities at NIT Trichy; however, that shouldn’t be a huge hindrance since the institute gives you a prestigious IIT Tag. Most students were sceptical about placements; however, the institute had an excellent placement drive in 2020. Students are provided basic facilities such as hostel, clubs, laboratories, gyms etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:
For CSE, the faculty is much better than ECE and academics is same as that of nit trichy mostly and all faculties has come from reputated colleges or some IITs . About exams it happens like 2 CTs and one end semester in theory and of lab exam will be conducted and amodel lab exam will also be held .
Placement Experience:
The placement and job opportunities are not good and is very struggling as of the other engineering colleges too. Off campus placements are the thing we have to focus and mostly have skills and that would make a difference.

Course Curriculum Overview:
The course curriculum is quite good with all courses required to improve our skills in all aspects of the branch. The faculty has done their PhD in IIT and they have more knowledge of their subject their teaching method is ok but some faculty's approach is not good Exam pattern: there will be cycle test 1 for 20 marks within another month test 2 for 20 marks 10, marks for the assignment, and end sem will be for 50 marks difficulty level is around 8/10 as they have given the fee structure for all 8 semesters on the website it will be in detail NBSP the scholarship I applied and the faculty also helped us for applying that

I am in my first year I do not know much about placements I only know some companies like NVIDIA etc my plans after this degree are M. Tech from an IIT my dream is to study at IIT but I Can't fulfill my dream in Btech

The faculty is quite nice and experience I have taken this course as this was the only best option among all others...The fees in not so high it is equal to all the other iiits at present..you can also avail scholarship given by NSP
Placement Experience:
The college provides various placement and job opportunities but we should not depend upon the college as the opportunities provided by the college are not so good...The highest package is around 35 lakhs and the average is around 10 lakhs

Course Curriculum Overview:
As you know software is booming nowadays like AI, DL . These are now evolution technologies. I also have interest in this field and choose this course. Faculty are good like most of the faculty are good enough and teaching method is good. Every semester will be around 4 months and there will be two semesters in a year. Every semester as 2 mids and one final exam and difficulty level is moderate.
Placement Experience:
Placements are good enough but due to recession this year batch like our batch 2024 didn't got many placement offers. The one which got placements have a good salary package. After my graduation I didn't got no campus placement . Right now there are exactly no plans but I want to do job search for next two-three months and I want to prepare for gate parallelly. Like as I said this year placements are not good but more than 50 percent people placed in established companies.
