- The college provided quality education. The college is very good for professional courses as well as other courses. It provides great learning opportunities and also conducts skill-based programs for the final year students.
- The social life in the college is very good. People meet new people and get to know each other's culture. People also enjoy the college life here because of a lot of new things to explore and lot of new things to try in the city. This overall enhances the mind of students
Dislikes
- The College campus is not too big. And due to this reason, there is no proper field for playing sports like football, cricket etc. There is only a basketball ground and volleyball ground. The tennis court is used as parking.
- The College does not have any student union or student body of its own.
Remarks :
The college provides quality education at an affordable price. The teaching faculty of the college is very knowledgeable and highly qualified. The college also organizes classes in shifts, which makes it easier for students to choose their shifts according to their timings. Students who do part-time jobs can choose the morning shift where classes start from 7 AM till 11 AM. This leaves the rest of their day a lot of free time which they can utilize according to their need. The day shift classes start from 1 PM till 4 PM. During my admission time, the admission was mainly based on merit and first come, first serve. However, now CUET is needed for admission. The college also organizes various co-curricular activities related to culture, music, sports, drama, field trips, and many more. There are also a few activities only for specific departments
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course because I wanted to learn more about economic theory, principles, and their applications in various concepts as well as day-to-day life. Also, choosing this course provides great career opportunities like financial analysis, policy analysis, economist, the banking sector and many more which I was looking forward to in the future. The teaching faculty is highly qualified. All the teachers hold great feats in their educational qualification and have good experience of teaching. The teachers in my department make the class very interesting and the interactive way of teaching with the students makes it even more fun. The exams are held according to the routine passed by the university, which is NEHU. Only once was an exam postponed due to an extreme weather condition. The exam syllabus and the questions are not at that extremely difficult level, however, scoring marks is difficult because of the strict checking.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Yearly fees: 24,040 (approx) The fees in this college for a B.A. Economics is taken in two instalments. The college offers various courses and most of them have the same fees pattern which is to be paid in two installments. The first instalment is to be paid during the time of admission, i.e., for the first semester and also every odd semester which is 16,180 INR (approx). The second instalment is to be paid in the second semester and in every even semester which is 7860 INR (approx). This brings to a yearly total of 24,040 INR (approx) and over three years the total cost will be 72,118 INR (approx). This amount is fixed for all the B.A. courses; however, the fees are slightly higher for B.COM. and B.SC courses. The college also charges 1200 INR as exam fees every semester for three papers which means 400 INR for each paper (one honors and two elective subjects).
Campus Life :
The campus life is great. People are friendly and we get a chance to meet people from the entire north-east. People learn and share each other's culture. Many activities of fun are conducted. The main is the college week held in February every year. During the college week, all students get to represent their department in various activities like sports, culture, dance, etc. However other recreational activities like Jam sessions, workshops etc. are also conducted in the rest of the year. The college has a huge library full of resources, facilities and services, to fulfil the information needs of the college community. Books related to every subject and other books like G.K, current affairs etc. are there as well. The classrooms are equipped with projectors to use smart methods of teaching also there is a mic with speakers for better communication. There are many social groups in our college like NCC, NSS, Media Club, Drama Club, SACMUN, Tourism Club, Minnova Club etc.
Hostel Facilities :
I live in a rented house. However, the college hostel is good with good food and a nice study environment. To apply for college hostel students can go to the college website and do it through there. My rented room is located in a nearby locality from the college. The monthly rent is 10,000 INR which is shared by three people which brings it to 3333 INR. per month in rent. The food costs around 1500 INR per month. The cost of living in Shillong is high. So, it is very difficult to get any lower-priced room. The average PG cost in Shillong is 7000 INR.

Job opportunities from our college is not quite good, but our college is renowned for their excellence in commerce so employability after completion of course is not a big issue especially for me, i personally would like to get involved in financial sectors

Since it's a college affiliated under NEHU, so there's only graduation course here. But if you want to do masters you have go to NEHU for that. Only then you will get a good placement. But I had friends in other departments they were given the opportunity to sit for placement interview but again the package isn't as high as someone would get after post graduation.

Placement opportunities were not directly available but many companies and institutions scouted our students through seminars and programmes for further job after the degree. The package differed from student to student and they were offered individually to them so it was hard to know the exact number.

Since I’m still under graduation , I don’t know much about the placements here. But my plans after my graduation is to persue MBA from a good university. But as I’ve heard from my seniors, the placements here are quite good and many of the students grab the placement opportunities that are offered here.
