NFSU Admission Process

NFSU conducts its own counselling through the NFSU Samarth portal at nfsuadm.samarth.edu.in. It is not part of JoSAA, CLAT Consortium counselling, or CCMT. Students must complete physical document verification at the Gandhinagar campus for every programme.

NFSU UG Integrated Programme Admission

For integrated courses, students first appear for the required national exam. After that, they register on the NFSU portal, take part in merit-based seat allotment, and report at Gandhinagar for document checks.

  • B.Sc+M.Sc Forensic Science: Applicants need 10+2 Science with minimum 60%. Merit is prepared from CUET UG scores. Gandhinagar has 40 seats (Tentative).
  • B.Tech+M.Tech Cybersecurity: Applicants need 10+2 PCM with minimum 60%. Merit is based on JEE Main Paper-1 scores. Gandhinagar has 40 seats (Tentative). The course is not listed in JoSAA.
  • BBA+MBA: Applicants from any 10+2 stream need minimum 60%. CUET UG merit is used for allotment. The course has 60 seats (Tentative).
  • BBA LLB and B.Sc LLB: Applicants need 10+2 with minimum 50%, or 45% for SC/ST/PwD. CLAT scores decide the merit list, while NFSU handles allotment on its own.

For B.Tech+M.Tech Cybersecurity, earlier cycles show a General Category competitive range usually above the 85th percentile in JEE Main. This is tentative. BBA LLB has a lower minimum eligibility of 50% in 10+2, while other NFSU UG courses require 60%.

NFSU PG Programme Admission

PG shortlisting is also entrance-based. CUET PG is used for M.Sc courses across 15-plus specialisations. MBA admission mainly uses CAT, with CUET PG used for seats left vacant. M.Tech uses GATE, and LLM uses CLAT PG.

  • Minimum eligibility: Relevant graduation with minimum 55%, or 50% for SC/ST.
  • MBA: Graduation in any stream with minimum 55%. CAT score is the main selection factor.
  • M.Tech: B.Tech in a relevant branch with minimum 55%. The required GATE paper depends on the specialisation.
  • PhD: PG degree with minimum 55%. Students with UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, or GATE are exempt from the NFSU research entrance test.

Reservation is applied as per central government rules across all programmes and campuses: SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 10%, and PwD 5% horizontal reservation.

NFSU Placements and Career Outcomes

NFSU graduates move into both government and private sector work. Forensic science and criminology students usually aim for investigation agencies and forensic laboratories, while cybersecurity and MBA students often enter private companies and specialised consulting roles.

Public sector options include the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), National Investigation Agency (NIA), state police forensic wings, and State Forensic Science Laboratories (FSLs). Private roles in forensic accounting and digital forensics are offered by forensic practices at major professional services firms.

The main NFSU Gandhinagar campus is spread over 50,000 sq m near the Gujarat government Directorate of Forensic Science premises in Gandhinagar. It is a fully air-conditioned green campus with round-the-clock security.

Academic facilities include advanced forensic science laboratories for DNA analysis, ballistics, toxicology, digital forensics, and cybersecurity training. The central library focuses on forensic sciences, criminal law, and cybersecurity. Students also use smart classrooms and high-speed WiFi. Hostel accommodation is available at Gandhinagar, but seats are limited.

NFSU has 15-plus campuses in India, including Delhi, Goa, Tripura, Bhopal, Pune, Guwahati, Manipur, Dharwad, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Jaipur, Nagpur, Raipur, and Varanasi. It also has one international campus in Uganda. The Gandhinagar campus remains the main base for flagship integrated courses and centralised admissions.

NFSU vs RRU vs Nirma University

Students looking at NFSU Gandhinagar may also compare it with Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) for security-focused national programmes and Nirma University for law and technology options in Gujarat.
