HNGU Admission Dates 2026

HNGU follows centralised Gujarat admission systems for several courses and uses separate entrance or counselling routes for professional programmes. For the 2026-27 session, the active admission deadline listed by the university is shown below.

HNGU Courses and Fees

HNGU runs more than 100 courses through 27 teaching departments and affiliated colleges. The course list includes medicine, architecture, design, engineering, management, law, sciences, arts, commerce, education, fine arts, library science, social work, and research. Fees start below INR 10,000 for some diploma and certificate courses and go above INR 19 Lakhs for MBBS.

B.Des is available in six options: Fashion Design, Fashion and Lifestyle Accessory Design, Interior Design, Product Design, Visual Communication, and a general B.Des track. Each B.Des option is a four-year course with a total fee of INR 2,50,000. HNGU also offers PGDCA, PGDFM, PGDHM, and other postgraduate diploma courses in the INR 21,000 to INR 40,000 fee range.

HNGU Admission Process

HNGU admissions are not handled through one common method for every course. General UG courses mainly use the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) merit system, while professional courses use entrance exams, counselling, or university-level admission rules.

UG Programmes (BA / B.Com / B.Sc / BCA / BBA / BSW)

For arts, commerce, and general science courses, students apply through GCAS. A student must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board. Seats are allotted through Class 12 merit, subject requirements, college choices, and the GCAS allotment process.

• Eligibility: 10+2 pass from UP Board, CBSE, GSEB, ICSE, or equivalent
• Science stream courses need 10+2 with the required PCM or PCB subjects
• Selection: GCAS merit list based on Class 12 marks in relevant subjects
• Process: GCAS registration, merit list, college choice filling, seat allotment, document verification, and fee payment

Medical and Health Sciences (MBBS / BDS / BHMS / BPT)

Students seeking MBBS, BDS, or BHMS admission need NEET UG scores and must take part in Gujarat state counselling. ACPC conducts counselling for Gujarat state quota seats. BPT admission may use NEET UG scores or 10+2 PCB merit, based on the rules of the affiliated college.

Architecture and Design (B.Arch / B.Des / B.Plan)

B.Arch admission is based on NATA or JEE Paper 2 and ACPC counselling. Students need 10+2 with PCM and 50% marks. B.Des admission may depend on NID, UCEED, or the HNGU design entrance test. B.Plan (Urban and Regional Planning) also follows the ACPC route and accepts NATA or JEE scores.

Management and Law (MBA / LLB / LLM)

MBA applicants need graduation with at least 50% marks and a valid CMAT or GUJCMAT score. LLB (3-year) admission is based on CLAT or the HNGU law entrance test, and graduation is required. LLM admission uses LLB marks. HNGU offers LLM in four specialisations: General, Business Law, Criminal Law, and Human Rights.

Postgraduate Programmes (MA / M.Sc / M.Com / MCA)

Most PG admissions are based on marks in the qualifying UG degree and are conducted through GCAS. MCA applicants must have studied Mathematics during graduation. M.Sc Biotechnology and M.Sc Organic Chemistry require a relevant B.Sc degree. Students must register on the GCAS PG portal and follow the merit list process for their subject.

HNGU Placements and Career Outcomes

HNGU placement figures mainly cover the university's main teaching departments, including Management, Computer Science, Law, and Architecture. According to NIRF 2023 data, 326 students from the main campus were placed, and the average salary was INR 1.90 LPA.

Career results differ by course. Management and Computer Science students from the main campus generally look for private-sector roles. Architecture and Design students move into design studios, planning firms, construction companies, and freelance work. Law graduates may choose litigation, corporate law, judiciary preparation, or government service. Many arts, science, commerce, and education students prepare for GPSC, SSC, teaching jobs, GATE, NET, judiciary exams, or further studies.

HNGU Rankings

HNGU is ranked in the NIRF Architecture category. The university also holds NAAC 'B' grade accreditation with a CGPA of 2.21.

HNGU is not listed in the current NIRF University or Management categories. Its NAAC 'B' grade with CGPA 2.21 shows that it has room to improve on quality parameters when compared with A and A+ graded state universities in Gujarat.

HNGU Scholarships

Students studying at HNGU and its affiliated colleges can apply for Gujarat state and central government scholarship schemes. The university and affiliated colleges help eligible students with verification and submission steps.

Students need to apply through the Gujarat state scholarship portal, e-Samaj Kalyan, or the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in within the dates announced by the Gujarat government for that academic year.

HNGU Campus and Infrastructure

HNGU's main campus is in Patan, Gujarat, a city known for the Rani ki Vav stepwell, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The campus has 27 teaching departments that run the university's main on-campus academic programmes.

The central library has more than 92,664 books, 2,776 Ph.D. theses, 3,523 periodical volumes, and a reading hall open from 8 AM to 10 PM. Separate hostels are available for boys and girls. The boys' hostel fee is up to INR 7,000 per year, and the girls' hostel fee is up to INR 6,000 per year. The campus also has a health centre, day care centre, and cyber cafe.

Architecture and Design students use design studios, model-making labs, and planning software. Science departments have research-grade laboratories for Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Physics. The sports complex supports outdoor and indoor sports, including facilities used by B.P.E. and M.P.Ed. students.

HNGU vs Gujarat University vs Sardar Patel University

Students from North Gujarat who consider HNGU may also compare it with Gujarat University in Ahmedabad and Sardar Patel University in Anand or Vallabh Vidyanagar. All three are UGC-approved state universities in Gujarat and attract many of the same applicants.

Gujarat University has the higher NAAC grade of A+ and offers an urban campus setting in Ahmedabad. HNGU has a stronger Architecture profile with NIRF rank 39 and offers B.Des in six specialisations along with MBBS and BDS in North Gujarat. Sardar Patel University is often chosen by students from the Anand belt for science and technology courses. All three universities use GCAS-based admission for general UG courses.
