Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) is a public research institute established in 1945 and located in Mumbai. It has been marked as one of the best institutes in Asian top 100 institutions. It became a deemed University under the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2002 and awarded its first Ph.D. degree to students, which is now functioning under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. TIFR Mumbai Fellowship Programs

The students of TIFR who are studying in research programs will receive the following fellowship by the Institute:

  • The Ph.D. scholars will get INR 25,000 as a monthly fellowship.
  • The Students of Integrated Ph.D. will get INR 16,000 in the 1st year during the course, or also it will be increased to INR 25,000 as on better performance. It will be further increased to INR 28,000 after the registration for the Ph.D. program.

TIFR Mumbai VSRP 2021

TIFR Mumbai conducts “The Visiting Students' Research Programme (VSRP)” every year for a duration of 2 months. For which the varsity invites applications from highly motivated and academically outstanding students. 

Eligibility for VSRP 2021

  • Candidates who will complete their B.E., B.T, Integrated M.Sc., M.Sc., or 4-year-B.Sc. degrees (in Astronomy, Physics, Electronics, or Applied Mathematics) in 2022.

VSRP 2021 Scholarships

  • Candidates selected for VSRP 2021 will be awarded a stipend of INR 7,000 per month along with the hostel accommodation. It will be decided basis their performance in research projects, interviews, and seminars.
