VMOU Kota Admission Updates
VMOU Admission 2026 at Vardhman Mahaveer Open University, Kota, is offered through India's Open and Distance Learning mode for courses such as BA, BSc, MA, MCom, MSc and MBA. The university works with two admission sessions, July and January, and most courses take students directly on merit without an entrance test. The application fee is INR 100. The MBA fee is INR 35,800 for two years, and the MA fee is INR 12,100 for the two-year programme.
- No entrance exam is needed for BA, BSc, MA, MCom and MSc Mathematics. VMOU checks the marks from the qualifying exam for admission.
- The July 2026 admission window for UG, PG and MBA courses has ended. Students must follow the next active schedule released by the university.
- Girls from Rajasthan can get free admission through full fee reimbursement under the Balika Doorasth Shiksha Chhatravritti Yojana, a scheme available at VMOU among state-funded open universities.
Admission Update:
- UG (BA, BSc) and PG (MA, MCom, MSc): Students must check the official portal for the next available admission schedule.
- MBA: The July 2026 application period has closed.
- B.Ed (ODL, in-service teachers): This course admits students only in the January session. The next cycle opens in January 2027.
- Before filling the VMOU form, students must create a UGC DEB ID and an ABC ID, which means Academic Bank of Credits, on the UGC DEB portal.
- Students who choose digital study material instead of printed books get a 15% discount on the programme fee.
- From January 2025, VMOU follows the semester exam pattern under NEP 2020. Exams are held in June and December every year.
- BA and BSc do not have any minimum percentage rule. A student only needs to have passed 10+2.
- The application fee for all programmes is INR 100. Payment can be made through net banking, debit card, credit card, UPI or an e-Mitra kiosk.

VMOU UG Admission 2026
VMOU takes UG admission for BA and BSc through marks in the qualifying exam. Students do not have to appear for a written test or interview. BSc admission is available only in the July session.

VMOU PG Admission 2026
For MA, MCom and MSc Mathematics, VMOU gives PG admission directly on merit. No entrance exam is required. MSc Science courses such as Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics are offered only in the January session, and merit is checked as per subject-wise rules.

VMOU PG Selection Criteria 2026
- MA, MCom and MSc Mathematics use direct merit-based admission. There is no entrance exam or interview.
- SC, ST, OBC and PwD students get a 5% relaxation in the minimum eligibility percentage.
- For MSc Science in Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics, merit is checked under the subject-wise admission rules issued on the university website.

VMOU MBA Admission 2026
VMOU MBA admission is based on graduation marks for up to 1000 seats. An entrance exam is not compulsory. Students may submit CAT, MAT, CMAT or VMOU MET scores to strengthen their profile.
VMOU MBA Eligibility Criteria 2026
- Graduation with a minimum 3-year TDC and 50% marks from any recognised university.
- Students with a master's degree from a recognised university can apply, whatever their UG percentage is.
- A recognised professional degree in Engineering, Technology, Medicine, Law or Architecture is accepted.
- Graduates with 3 or more years of supervisory or managerial work experience are also eligible.
VMOU MBA Selection Criteria 2026
- Selection is based only on graduation marks, with reservation as per state government rules. GD, PI and entrance test are not required.
- The total MBA fee is INR 35,800, which is INR 17,900 per year for 2 years. The teaching medium is English.
- Internal assignments may be submitted at any of the 7 VMOU regional centres in Rajasthan.
How to Apply for VMOU MBA 2026?
- Apply through online.vmou.ac.in and choose the Kota Regional Centre as the study centre.
- Upload graduation marksheets and the required documents. An entrance scorecard is not mandatory for MBA admission.

VMOU B.Ed Admission 2026
VMOU offers B.Ed through ODL only for in-service primary school teachers. It is not a regular B.Ed course for fresh graduates. The course has NCTE approval, runs for at least 2 years and can be completed within 5 years. Admission is held only in the January session.
Key insight: VMOU conducts the Rajasthan state-level VMOU PTET, or Pre Teacher Education Test, for regular B.Ed colleges. This exam is different from VMOU's own ODL B.Ed. Students who are not practising primary teachers should check the PTET notice for regular B.Ed admission in affiliated colleges.
VMOU B.Ed Eligibility Criteria 2026
Students must meet all three conditions together:
- They must be working as primary teachers for Class 1 to 8 in a recognised government or private school in India.
- They must hold a 2-year BSTC or D.El.Ed qualification recognised by NCTE.
- They must have a graduation degree with at least 50% marks. SC, ST and OBC students need 45%. B.Tech graduates with Science and Mathematics specialisation need 55%.
VMOU B.Ed Selection Criteria and Fees 2026
- Admission is through an NCTE-mandated written entrance exam for 500 sanctioned seats, followed by counselling for eligible students.
- The course opens for admission only in the January session. The next application cycle will open in January 2027.

VMOU PhD Admission 2026
VMOU offers PhD programmes in regular mode across 13 departments. PhD admission is available only in the January session. Students need a postgraduate degree and must qualify through UGC NET, JRF or the VMOU research entrance test.
VMOU Scholarships 2026
VMOU students can use government-linked fee support schemes. In most cases, students first pay the fee at admission and then claim reimbursement through the relevant portal.
- Balika Doorasth Shiksha Chhatravritti Yojana (Rajasthan Govt): Girl students from Rajasthan enrolled at VMOU can claim full programme fee reimbursement. They must apply through the Rajasthan social welfare portal after admission.
- SC/ST Fee Reimbursement: SC and ST students may claim programme fee reimbursement through the Rajasthan Samaj Kalyan, or Social Welfare, department. The application is made on the state portal during admission.
- National Scholarship Portal (NSP): OBC, EWS, minority and PwD students can apply at scholarships.gov.in for central and state-funded scholarships.
- Gold Medal: VMOU gives gold medals to top scorers in each programme at the annual convocation. This is an academic recognition award and does not reduce the fee.
Check VMOU Admission Status Online
After submitting the form and paying the fee, students can track their VMOU admission status on the official student portal. They do not have to wait only for email or SMS confirmation.
- Visit the official VMOU student portal at online.vmou.ac.in.
- Find the "Admission Status" or "Track Application" option on the homepage or student login area.
- Log in with the scholar number and registered mobile number or email ID.
- The portal may show Application Received, Under Verification, Approved or Rejected, with the reason if it is rejected.
- After approval, students get a unique Scholar Number by SMS and email. This confirms official admission and is needed for exam forms, study material dispatch and future communication.
If the status stays "Under Verification" for a long time, or if documents are marked incorrect or incomplete, students should contact the selected regional centre or the university student grievance cell instead of applying again.

Ques. Do BA or MA applicants have to take an entrance test at VMOU Kota?
Ans. No. VMOU gives direct merit-based admission for BA, BSc, MA, MCom and MSc Mathematics through qualifying exam marks. B.Ed is different because it has special rules for in-service teachers.
Ques. When did the VMOU July 2026 application period close?

The following are guidelines and procedures for submitting assignments at Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU):
Each course requires students to complete one assignment. Students are supposed to give all the assignments before the tests.
