VMOU Kota Admission Updates
Vardhman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU), Kota Admission 2026 is open for students who want to study UG, PG or MBA courses through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) in India. VMOU runs admissions in two sessions, July and January. Most courses give admission directly through merit, so students do not need an entrance test.
- BA, BSc, MA, MCom and MSc Mathematics do not require an entrance exam. VMOU gives admission only through qualifying exam marks.
- July 2026 session applications are open from July 1 to July 31, 2026 for UG, PG and MBA courses.
- Girl students from Rajasthan can get free admission through full fee reimbursement under the Balika Doorasth Shiksha Chhatravritti Yojana, a scheme offered by VMOU among state-funded open universities.
Admission Update:
- UG (BA, BSc) and PG (MA, MCom, MSc): July 2026 session forms start on July 1, 2026 and end on July 31, 2026.
- MBA: July 2026 session applications close on July 31, 2026.
- B.Ed (ODL, in-service teachers): Admission is offered only in the January session. The next cycle will begin in January 2027.
- Students must have a UGC DEB ID and an ABC ID, which means Academic Bank of Credits ID, before filling the VMOU form. These can be created on the UGC DEB portal.
- Students choosing digital study material instead of printed books get a 15% discount on the program fee.
- From January 2025, VMOU follows a semester examination system under NEP 2020. Exams are conducted in June and December every year.
- BA and BSc admission has no minimum percentage rule. Any student who has passed 10+2 can apply directly.
- The application fee for all programs is INR 100. Students can pay it through net banking, debit card, credit card, UPI or e-Mitra kiosk.

VMOU UG Admission 2026
VMOU offers UG admission for BA and BSc on the basis of merit. Students do not have to appear for any entrance exam. They can apply on the online portal, and admission is given through marks in the qualifying exam. BSc admission is available only in the July session.

VMOU PG Admission 2026
VMOU PG admission is mostly direct and merit-based. MA, MCom and MSc Mathematics do not require an entrance exam. MSc Science courses in Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics are offered only in the January session, and merit is checked as per the subject-wise rules.

VMOU MA fee is INR 12,100 for the 2-year programme. PG courses are useful for working professionals because theory courses do not require compulsory campus attendance.
VMOU PG Selection Criteria 2026
- MA, MCom and MSc Mathematics admission is direct and merit-based. Students do not need an entrance test or interview.
- SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates get a 5% relaxation in the required eligibility percentage.
- For MSc Science in Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics, merit is checked according to subject-wise admission rules published on the university website.

VMOU MBA Admission 2026
VMOU MBA admission in 2026 is based only on graduation marks for up to 1000 seats. No entrance exam is compulsory. Students may still submit CAT, MAT, CMAT or VMOU MET scores if they want to strengthen their profile.
VMOU MBA Eligibility Criteria 2026
- Graduation, minimum 3-year TDC, with 50% marks from any recognised university.
- Students with a master’s degree from any recognised university can apply, whatever their UG percentage may be.
- A recognised professional degree in Engineering, Technology, Medicine, Law or Architecture is accepted.
- Graduates with 3 or more years of supervisory or managerial experience are also eligible.
VMOU MBA Selection Criteria 2026
- Selection is fully merit-based through graduation marks. Reservation is applied as per state government policy. There is no entrance test, GD or PI.
- The total MBA fee is INR 35,800, charged as INR 17,900 per year for 2 years. The course is taught in English.
- Students can submit internal assignments at any of the 7 VMOU regional centres in Rajasthan.
How to Apply for VMOU MBA 2026?
- Apply through online.vmou.ac.in and select Kota Regional Centre as the study centre.
- Upload graduation marksheets and other required documents. An entrance scorecard is not mandatory for MBA admission.

VMOU B.Ed Admission 2026
VMOU B.Ed through ODL is meant only for in-service primary school teachers. It is not a regular B.Ed course for fresh graduates. The course has NCTE approval and runs for a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 5 years. Admission is offered only in the January session.
Key point: VMOU conducts the Rajasthan state-level VMOU PTET, or Pre Teacher Education Test, for regular B.Ed colleges. This exam is different from VMOU’s own ODL B.Ed course. Students who are not practising primary teachers should check the PTET notification for regular B.Ed admission in affiliated colleges.
VMOU B.Ed Eligibility Criteria 2026
Students must meet all three conditions together:
- The applicant must be working as a primary teacher, Class 1 to 8, in any recognised government or private school in India.
- The applicant must have a 2-year BSTC or D.El.Ed qualification recognised by NCTE.
- The applicant must have a graduation degree with at least 50% marks. SC, ST and OBC candidates need 45%. B.Tech graduates with Science and Mathematics specialisation need 55%.
VMOU B.Ed Selection Criteria and Fees 2026
- Admission is through an NCTE-mandated written entrance exam for 500 sanctioned seats, followed by counselling for eligible students.
- B.Ed admission opens only in the January session. The next application cycle will start in January 2027.

VMOU Scholarships 2026
VMOU students can use government-linked fee support schemes. In most cases, students first pay the fee during admission and later claim reimbursement on the related portal. The available scholarship and award details are given below:
- Balika Doorasth Shiksha Chhatravritti Yojana (Rajasthan Govt): Girl students from Rajasthan enrolled at VMOU can claim full program fee reimbursement. The application is submitted through the Rajasthan social welfare portal after admission.
- SC/ST Fee Reimbursement: SC and ST students can apply for program fee reimbursement through the Rajasthan Samaj Kalyan, or Social Welfare, department. The form must be submitted on the state portal at the time of admission.
- National Scholarship Portal (NSP): OBC, EWS, minority and PwD students can apply at scholarships.gov.in for central and state-funded scholarships.
- Gold Medal: VMOU gives gold medals to toppers in each program at the annual convocation. This is an academic recognition award, not a fee benefit.
Check VMOU Admission Status Online
After submitting the VMOU application and paying the fee, students can check their admission status on the official student portal. They do not have to wait only for SMS or email confirmation.
- Open the official VMOU student portal at online.vmou.ac.in.
- Find the "Admission Status" or "Track Application" option on the homepage or in the student login area.
- Log in with the scholar number and registered mobile number or email ID.
- The portal may show Application Received, Under Verification, Approved or Rejected with the reason, if applicable.
- After approval, students get a unique Scholar Number by SMS and email. This confirms official admission and is needed for exam forms, study material dispatch and future communication.
If the portal shows "Under Verification" for a long time, or if any document is marked incorrect or incomplete, students should contact the selected regional centre or the university student grievance cell instead of applying again.

Ques. Do BA and MA applicants have to take an entrance test at VMOU Kota?
Ans. No. VMOU gives direct merit-based admission to BA, BSc, MA, MCom and MSc Mathematics through qualifying exam marks. B.Ed is different because it has special conditions for in-service teachers.

The following are guidelines and procedures for submitting assignments at Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU):
Each course requires students to complete one assignment. Students are supposed to give all the assignments before the tests.
