Ques. Why were Research Stations set up?

Ans. TNAU runs its research system through one Lead Centre, along with research stations for every agro-climatic zone. These zones are Cauvery Delta Zone, North-Eastern Zone, North-Western Zone, Western Zone, Southern Zone, High Rainfall Zone and Hilly & Tribal Zone. The aim is to help the farming community of the state improve its economic condition by developing varieties, hybrids and better management practices. TNAU also carries out need-based research, works on future requirements of the state and adapts technologies from other institutes after fine-tuning them for state-level needs.

Ques. How does the NCC unit at TNAU function?

Ans. The NCC Unit of Agricultural College & Research Institute of TNAU, Coimbatore has 104 cadets from the first, second and third years of different degree programmes. These cadets take part in fixed training activities and social service work at the institute every year. They also attend state-level and national-level camps. NCC cadets join university events such as Independence Day functions, Republic Day celebrations and the Guard of Honour for the Governor of Tamilnadu. NCC Day was marked through activities such as a cycle rally on climate change, a cleanliness drive and cleaning of the NCC parade ground.

Ans. The Placement Cell at the Centre for Students Welfare, TNAU connects students with many industries. It helps students improve their employability skills through career development activities. The cell also supports career planning by offering resources and activities that help students choose suitable career paths. Campus interviews are held through the year based on employer requirements. About 60 companies take part in campus placement activities every year. The Job Fair is held when academic programmes come to a close.
