TANUVAS Chennai was established by the Tamil Nadu government in 1989. It is an ICAR-approved state university that provides veterinary and animal science research and outreach programs. It is affiliated with Madras University.

TANUVAS offers B.VSc & AH as its flagship course. The fee for B.VSc & AH is INR 95.96K. The eligible candidates must have passed 10+2 with PCB with 60% marks/ 60% marks in aggregate of Biology and vocational subjects (Agricultural practices, Dairy or Poultry). The selection process is based on merit in the qualifying examination followed by counselling and verification documents.

TANUVAS offers PG program in M.VSc. The fee for M.VSc is INR 64.83K. The eligible candidates must be a graduate in B.VSc or B.VSc & AH from any college recognized by the Veterinary Council of India. The selection process is based on Entrance Test followed by a counselling session.

TANUVAS also offers B.Tech in various specializations. The fee for B.Tech is INR 71.86K. The eligibility criteria is that the candidate should have passed 10+2 with PCMB with 60% marks. The selection process is based on merit in the qualifying examination followed by counselling and verification documents.
