MVC Chennai Admission Process

MVC uses different selection routes for its veterinary, technology, postgraduate, doctoral and diploma programmes. Applicants must first meet the course-specific academic requirements and then qualify through the relevant merit list, entrance test and counselling process.

BVSc and Animal Husbandry

Admissions to the college's main BVSc and AH course are divided between the Tamil Nadu state quota and the All-India Quota.

• State Quota, 85% of seats: Selection uses a combined score of 200 marks, with 100 marks from Class 12 Biology and 100 marks from Physics. Applicants must have Tamil Nadu domicile.
• All-India Quota, 15% of seats: Applicants need a valid NEET UG score, and MCC conducts the counselling.
• Eligibility: Applicants must complete 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognised board. The minimum aggregate is 50%, or 45% for SC, ST and OBC applicants.
• State-quota selection stages: The process covers verification of Class 12 marks, TANUVAS counselling registration, choice filling, seat allotment, document checks and final admission confirmation.

For the 2025-26 cycle, the General Category closing rank for a NEET UG All-India Quota seat was 21,811. State-quota closing marks differ by category and may change with the level of competition in each admission cycle.

B.Tech Programmes

Applicants for B.Tech in Dairy Technology, Food Technology or Poultry Production Technology must pass 10+2 from a recognised board with Physics and Chemistry, along with Biology or Mathematics. Selection uses a CUET UG score or the TANUVAS direct entrance, followed by centralised counselling.

Postgraduate Programmes

For MVSc, applicants need a BVSc and AH degree and a valid ICAR NET or TANCET score. M.Tech requires a B.Tech in the relevant discipline, while M.Sc Biotechnology requires a B.Sc in Life Sciences. After qualifying through the applicable entrance route, students attend TANUVAS counselling.

PhD and PG Diploma Programmes

A relevant postgraduate degree plus a valid NET-JRF or TANUVAS PhD entrance score is required for PhD admission. PG Diploma applicants must hold BVSc and AH or an equivalent qualification related to their chosen specialisation.

MVC Chennai Placements and Career Outcomes

Private veterinary practices, pharmaceutical businesses, dairy organisations and poultry companies take part in MVC's campus recruitment. During the latest cycle, employers selected 28 of 46 BVSc graduates, and the median package reached INR 7.2 LPA. The remaining 18 graduates chose higher study, entering MVSc specialisations through ICAR NET or TANCET.
