Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI), Odisha, Cuttack is now known as ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (NRRI). It was established in 1946. ICAR-NRRI is one of the institutes of ICAR under the Crop Science Division.

CRRI provides a Human Research Development (HRD) program at postgraduate and research level. This programme is available for the students of M.Sc/M/Tech/Equivalent degree and Ph.D candidates. Admission for postgraduate students are merit based while Ph.D candidates are required to qualify a common test organized by concerned University and appear for the Interview.

The program provides an excellent opportunity for students to work in the emerging areas of rice research in their post graduate and doctoral programme, guided by leading rice scientists

Central Rice Research Institute Admission 2022

Interested candidates should apply when the organization conferring PhD degree announces for registration of the candidates. Entrance and subsequent interviews will be the only criteria used to determine admission to the CRRI Ph.D. program. However, Admission to HRD for postgraduates will be merit based. The candidates applying for M.Sc./M.Tech./equivalent degree will pay an amount of Rs.500/- as application fee.

  • The eligible candidates may apply to the Director, NRRI, Cuttack – 753 006, Odisha as per the notification on the NRRI website with complete bio-data indicating discipline, subject preference and copies of the relevant documents.
  • There will be a walk-in interview at CRRI Cuttack.
  • For an interview, chosen candidates will be contacted or informed.

Ques. Can a student apply without a fellowship?

Ans. The Institute may admit students who do not have a fellowship but have already take

n an entrance exam (conducted by the university) and finished six months of coursework based on their academic performance. The Institute will no longer award scholarships to such students.

Ans. Students should not publish their work elsewhere without first consulting the manual. The only name under which a patent may be obtained is CRRI.
