Being a government institution was my first green flag. Along with that the privilege of being a student of this college was also another important factor for me. There wasn’t any interviews or special tests for admission. It was based on the LBS rank list, which was prepared on the basis of 12th marks.

The factors that made me choose Calicut Medical College were that, it had the highest patient load in the country and was also known to be the best medical college in my state. The college was all around the news during the Nipah outbreak and how they had managed to control it, then I used to watch YouTube videos and connect to seniors through various platforms to get my doubts about choosing the college. Finally considering all the facts I ended up choosing this college, and I'm glad that I chose this as my college. There were no interviews or written tests as such, it was all based on NEET rank and reservation basis, you would be provided an allotment letter by the respective allotment authority and a specific date to report to the college.

Government Medical College Calicut is close to my hometown. Moreover it's the largest Medical College in South India both on the basis of infrastructure and patient load. Government Medical College Kozhikode was ranked the best medical college of South Asia in 2005. Coming to bad aspects of CMC,since it's a government college the environment and habitat is not always pleasant. Hostels facilities are decent but the hostel Life in first year is pretty difficult. First year students are allotted dormitories while as we progress to second and third years we get spacious 4 people room. Final years have single rooms. Admission to CMC is through NEET. The exam is pretty competitive and should score a minimum mark of 670+ in 720. For me, 2020 NEET was comparitively less competitive. I scored 655 marks and AIR 3075 and Kerala rank it was around 540 range and with OBC quota I recieved admission to the prestigious institution. Preparation for NEET is based on 11th and 12th grade Science subjects.
