For a student living on campus, the hostel charge of up to INR 36,000 a year is higher than the average yearly course fee of INR 33,125. Including hostel charges, the four-year expense is INR 2,76,500. This amount is lower than the one-year fee charged by most private engineering colleges offering comparable professional outcomes.

NFSC Nagpur Admission Process

The Ministry of Home Affairs controls admission to the B.Tech Fire Engineering programme. NFSC does not offer management-quota or NRI-quota seats. Selection for all 60 seats begins with JEE Main shortlisting and ends with compulsory document, medical and physical checks at the college campus.

Eligibility Criteria

An applicant must satisfy each of these requirements:

• Only Indian nationals may apply.
• The applicant must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects. The qualifying subjects must also include at least one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a Technical Vocational subject.
• The required aggregate is 45% for General and EWS applicants and 40% for SC and ST applicants.
• For the 2026-27 admission cycle, age was calculated on January 1, 2026. The permitted range was 18 to 25 years for General and EWS applicants, up to 28 years for OBC-NCL applicants, and up to 30 years for SC and ST applicants.
• Every category requires a valid JEE Main Paper 1 score.

Mandatory Physical Standards

Students invited for the second stage must meet every medical and physical condition. A candidate who fails any required parameter is disqualified even with a qualifying JEE rank.

• Male applicants: Height must be at least 165 cm and weight at least 50 kg. Unaided vision must be 6/6 in the right eye and 6/12 in the left eye.
• Female applicants: Height must be at least 157 cm and weight at least 46 kg. Unaided vision must be 6/6 in the right eye and 6/12 in the left eye.

Selection Process

Admission follows these stages:

1. Applicants take JEE Main Paper 1 and apply using a valid score.
2. NFSC prepares the first shortlist from JEE Main All India Ranks.
3. Shortlisted students report to the NFSC campus for document verification.
4. Each shortlisted student undergoes the required medical and physical fitness tests.
5. The final merit list includes candidates who successfully complete both selection stages.

Central Government reservation rules apply to the intake: 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and 10% for EWS applicants.

The JEE Main closing rank changes with each admission cycle. Competition is national and only 60 seats are available. Applicants within the lower range of JEE Main qualifying ranks may have a reasonable chance of being shortlisted, but many shortlisted students are filtered out during the compulsory physical test.

The B.Tech Fire Engineering programme prepares students for work in fire safety, industrial safety and emergency management. NFSC Nagpur Campus and Infrastructure

The NFSC campus is located on Takli Feeder Road at Raj Nagar, Nagpur, Maharashtra. It was built specifically for fire engineering education and practical training. Its specialised training facilities are not available at other engineering colleges in India.

Students use equipped fire engineering laboratories, live-fire demonstration grounds, disaster-response drill zones and specialised systems for hazardous-material and fire-suppression training. Academic support includes a central library containing fire science and engineering references. ICT-enabled classrooms are used for theoretical teaching and simulation-based study.

Separate on-campus hostels are provided for male and female students. Accommodation and mess are covered by an annual charge of up to INR 36,000. As the B.Tech course is mainly residential and involves intensive practical work, most students live on campus throughout the four years.
