Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST) began in 1997 as a private engineering institution in Hyderabad, Telangana. It is affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, and has approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institute is accredited with NAAC Grade A. It was also the first engineering college among the JNTU-affiliated institutions in Telangana to gain AICTE accreditation.

SNIST was placed in the 201-300 band in the NIRF Engineering 2024 ranking. Its campus is at Yamnampet, Ghatkesar, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, Hyderabad 501302. Spread across 33 acres, the Wi-Fi-enabled campus provides department laboratories, smart classrooms, a central library and separate residential blocks for men and women.

CSE, AI and Machine Learning, and Data Science attract the strongest demand during TS EAMCET counselling. Fee norms set for private colleges in Telangana by JNTU and AICTE result in an identical fee structure for all 11 B.Tech specialisations.

SNIST Admission Process

Admissions at SNIST are based on merit and take place online through the centralised counselling system managed by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE). The required entrance examination and counselling channel depend on the selected programme.

B.Tech Admission

Selection for B.Tech uses TS EAMCET. The merit calculation gives 75% weightage to the TS EAMCET rank, while Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics marks from Class XII receive 25% weightage.

  1. Complete 10+2 with at least 45% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  2. Register for TS EAMCET and appear for the examination.
  3. Attend certificate verification after qualifying.
  4. Enter branch and college choices during web counselling and wait for seat allotment.
  5. Report to SNIST after receiving an allotted seat.

Seats are divided according to Telangana reservation rules for OC, BC-A, BC-B, BC-C, BC-D, BC-E, SC, ST and EWS applicants. During recent counselling rounds, OC closing ranks for the CSE and AI/ML branches have generally remained between 5,000 and 15,000. Civil and Mechanical Engineering usually close at higher ranks and are therefore less competitive.

B.Tech Lateral Entry

Applicants with a diploma from an AICTE-approved polytechnic can seek direct admission to the second year through TS ECET. They must have at least 45% marks in a relevant Engineering Diploma.

M.Tech Admission

A valid PGECET or GATE score is used for M.Tech selection. Applicants need a B.Tech or B.E. degree in the relevant branch with a minimum 50% aggregate. Those admitted with a valid GATE score may receive the AICTE GATE Scholarship of INR 12,400 per month.

MBA Admission

MBA seats are assigned through TS ICET counselling conducted by JNTU Hyderabad. A bachelor's degree from a recognised university with at least 50% aggregate is required. Allotment takes place through Telangana's centralised MBA/MCA Common Admission Process.

SNIST Placements

The Career Development Centre (CDC) coordinates recruitment at SNIST. In the latest complete placement cycle, more than 285 companies visited and issued 1,201 offers. The recorded average CTC was INR 6.8 LPA, while the highest CTC reached INR 36 LPA.

Since 2017, Accenture has remained SNIST's biggest single recruiter, with an average of 395 placements per year. Wipro, Cognizant and Infosys also recruit regularly. Most offers come from the IT and IT-services sector, with CSE, AI/ML and IT reporting the strongest placement rates among the branches. CDC figures indicate that placements grew by an average of 42.9% each year during the past seven years.

SNIST Campus and Infrastructure

The SNIST campus covers 33 acres at Yamnampet in Ghatkesar, 25 km from central Hyderabad. Wi-Fi is available across the campus. Academic facilities include engineering laboratories for individual departments, ICT-enabled smart classrooms, a central library and computing systems used for teaching and research.

Men and women have separate hostel buildings. Students who choose campus housing receive furnished rooms along with access to a shared mess, laundry service, internet, indoor games and emergency medical support. Staying in a hostel is optional and is not required for admission. The institute also operates transport services between its Ghatkesar campus and major locations in Hyderabad.

Students can use an outdoor sports ground as well as indoor sports facilities. Technical clubs, cultural committees and other co-curricular programmes support activities outside regular classes.

SNIST vs CBIT vs Vardhaman College of Engineering
