SJCE Chennai Courses and Fees

Students can choose undergraduate BE and B.Tech degrees or postgraduate ME, M.Tech and MBA programmes. These cover core engineering, technology and management. As a government-aided college, SJCE follows fees regulated by the Tamil Nadu government. Its engineering fees are among the lowest charged by private engineering colleges in Chennai.

For every BE and B.Tech branch, the annual charge is INR 55,000, adding up to INR 2,20,000 over four years. This includes popular choices such as CSE, AI-ML and Cyber Security. Government quota and management quota students pay the same government-regulated course fee.

SJCE Chennai Admission Process

Anna University’s admission framework governs entry to SJCE. For government quota BE and B.Tech seats, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) uses Class 12 marks to select students. Applicants taking this route do not need a separate entrance examination.

Eligibility and Steps for BE and B.Tech

Applicants must pass HSC, or an equivalent 10+2 examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects. The required aggregate is 50% for General and OBC students and 40% for SC/ST students. Tamil Nadu domicile is not compulsory. Students from other states can seek management quota admission or apply through TNEA if they meet its eligibility conditions.

The TNEA process follows these stages:

• Create an application through the online TNEA portal.
• Complete certificate verification at the assigned centre.
• Receive the random number and assigned rank.
• Enter college and branch choices online in order of preference.
• Receive a seat allotment and report as instructed.

SJCE handles admission to the 35% management quota directly. Students who meet the requirements must contact the admissions office, provide their Class 12 marks and documents, and pay the prescribed fee. For branches such as CSE, TNEA cutoffs are competitive within the middle group of Anna University colleges. Student demand for the OMR location contributes to this competition.

Entry to ME, M.Tech and MBA

A relevant BE/B.Tech degree is needed for ME or M.Tech, whereas MBA applicants may hold a graduation degree in any discipline. Both routes require at least 50% aggregate marks. TANCET 2026 serves as the main qualifying examination, followed by TANCA counselling for postgraduate engineering or TAMAT counselling for MBA. Eligible students can also seek direct management quota admission to postgraduate seats at the prescribed fee.

SJCE Chennai Placements

The Training and Placement Cell brings employers to campus and manages recruitment drives. IT, software and technology jobs account for much of this activity, supported by SJCE’s position along Chennai’s OMR IT corridor.

During 2024-25, the college recorded 224 offers and 224 students placed from an eligible group of 290. The placement rate was 77%. Recruitment involved 39 companies: 16 from IT, 9 from IT-enabled services (ITES), and 14 from non-IT sectors.

Employers in the 2024-25 drive included Transenergy Pvt Ltd, Academor Pvt Ltd, Rinex Technology, Q-Spider Solutions, Bosch and Wipro. CSE and IT reported the highest placement rates. As the first batches from newer programmes such as AI-ML, Cyber Security and AI-DS graduate, these branches are expected to help raise average salary packages in later recruitment cycles.

SJCE Chennai Rankings

SJCE has recognition both within Anna University’s affiliated college network and in a national ranking of emerging private engineering colleges. It does not enter NIRF independently. Its performance measures align with the 201-300 NIRF Engineering band for Anna University-affiliated private colleges.

The academic audit result puts SJCE within the top 12% of Anna University affiliates, supporting its standing in the middle-to-upper group of these colleges. Its India Today-MDRA position recognises progress in academic performance and placement facilities.

SJCE Chennai Campus and Infrastructure

Chennai’s IT highway, Old Mahabalipuram Road, is home to the SJCE campus. Nearby IT parks, software businesses and special economic zone (SEZ) clusters give students access to internship and recruitment opportunities.

Each of the eight engineering and management departments has dedicated laboratory facilities. ECE students use hardware electronics labs, while CSE and IT have software labs. Other facilities include mechanical workshops, a biotechnology research laboratory and a cybersecurity simulation lab for the Cyber Security course. A central library supports study and research across subjects. Campus infrastructure operates within an ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management framework.

Teaching is supported by 87 faculty members, alongside an active network of more than 7,100 alumni. SJCE also has over 70 memoranda of understanding (MoUs), which are agreements with industry partners and academic institutions. These support joint research, student training and placement partnerships, helped by the college’s OMR location.
