Established in 1994, St Joseph College of Engineering Chennai is AICTE approved, in addition to being accredited by the NBA and NAAC. The college is affiliated to Anna University Chennai. IIRF and India Today ranked the college for BTech at 60 and 210, respectively, in 2024.
 

Bachelors of Engineering at St Joseph’s College of Engineering is offered in seven specialisations. The candidate should have scored 50% in 10+2, with Physics, Maths and Chemistry as mandatory subjects. Selection of candidates is based on TNEA, followed by counselling held by Anna University. The total intake of this course is 1020 seats. Rs 2.40 Lakhs is the total fees of this course. SJCOE Chennai courses include undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering and Management. These include BTech, MTech, MBA, MBA Integrated, and ME.
St Joseph’s College of Engineering Admissions are conducted offline. Candidates must collect application forms from the college.

The college awards scholarships based on various categories. The National Merit Scholarship is awarded to meritorious students, while the Government of India awards scholarships to SC/ST students. Students from backward classes, with family income of Rs 50,000 are eligible for Sate Scholarships. Students belonging to Most Backward Classes are awarded scholarships as well. SC/ST students are granted Adi-Dravidar Welfare Loan. Children of Defence Personnel are eligible for scholarships, as well.

St Joseph College of Engineering Placements 2024 were a success, with a placement rate of 78.29%. Out of 1245 UG and PG students, 1175 students participated in the placement drive. 920 students were placed. The highest salary offered was INR 40 LPA, while the average CTC stood at INR 5 LPA. A total of 1055 jobs were offered by reputed organisations like Cisco, Amazon, TCS, Wipro, Nokia, IBM, Deloitte, Cognizant, Accenture, and Infosys.
