Founded in 1996, SSN College of Engineering is an autonomous university. It is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The college is recognised by the AICTE and UGC, in addition to being accredited by the NAAC. SSNCE Chennai Admissions to UG, PG and PhD programs are both merit and entrance based.
SSNCE Chennai offers BE/BTech in the following specialisations: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Information Technology and Chemical Engineering. Candidates can apply online, the fees for which is Rs 1200/-.
The candidate should have completed 10+2 with 45% marks, from a recognised board. The candidate is selected based on their exam score in TNEA Counselling. The total fees for this course is Rs 2.20 Lakhs, for both BE and BTech.
SSNCE Chennai offers a variety of programs. They include BTech Lateral, MTech, ME, MBA, and an Integrated BTech + MTech.

The college awards different scholarships to UG and PG students. BE/BTech Scholarships include Merit Scholarships, Merit-cum-Means Scholarships, Waiver of Tuition Fee, Walk-in-Walk-out Scholarships, Scholarships for Rural Students, and Sports Scholarships. Students pursuing ME/MTech are awarded scholarships based on merit in GATE. There are also Walk-in Walk-out scholarships for BE/B.Tech university rank holders.

SSNCE Chennai Placements 2024 were a success, with a placement assistance rate of 77.89%. Out of 95 eligible students, 74 students were placed in the placement drive. The highest CTC offered was INR 21 LPA by Citi Bank. This year, the top recruiters at SSNCE Chennai were: Schneider Electric, Comcast, Bosch, TCS Ninja, Freshworks, and BNP Paribas.
