HIMS Dehradun Courses and Fees

More than 60 programmes are offered across medicine, allied health, physiotherapy, super-speciality studies and management. The total charge depends on the course level and discipline.

Charges for clinical MD and MS courses differ by speciality. Radiodiagnosis costs INR 1.02 Crores, MS OBG costs INR 1.02 Crores, and MS Ophthalmology costs INR 1.75 Crores. These amounts are higher than the INR 20.98 to 23.98 Lakhs charged for para-clinical subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology and Community Medicine.

HIMS Dehradun Admission Process

HIMS selects students through national entrance tests, merit and counselling, depending on the programme. Applicants must qualify for the relevant course, register with the correct counselling body, submit choices, receive a seat allotment and complete document verification before joining.

MBBS Admission

Selection for the 150-seat MBBS course depends on the NEET UG score. Seats are divided among the All-India Quota, Uttarakhand state merit quota and management quota.

• Students need 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology and at least 50% in aggregate. The minimum is 40% for SC, ST and OBC applicants.
• An applicant must be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year.
• Every quota category requires a valid qualifying NEET UG score.

MCC counselling fills the 15% AIQ seats, and DGME Uttarakhand counselling covers the state quota. HIMS directly conducts institutional rounds for management and NRI quota seats.

3. Complete choice filling and take part in the applicable counselling round.

MD and MS Admission

The NEET PG score determines admission to MD and MS courses. MCC manages AIQ seats, while DGME Uttarakhand PG rounds and institutional counselling fill state and management quota seats.

• Applicants must have an MBBS degree from an NMC-recognised institution and finish the one-year internship before joining.
• The selection sequence covers NEET PG ranking, AIQ or state registration, choice filling, allotment, document checks and joining.

DM, M.Ch and Allied Health Admission

Admission to DM and M.Ch super-speciality courses is through NEET SS. BPT, BASLP, B.Optom and allied health B.Sc courses use merit or NEET UG through HIMS institutional counselling. MHA, MSW and M.Sc selection is based on merit or the CUET PG score.

HIMS Dehradun Cutoff

The required NEET rank changes with the counselling round, quota and applicant category. For the General Category under the Uttarakhand state quota, the recorded MBBS closing rank in Round 4 of 2025 was 152,803.

HIMS Dehradun Placements and Career Outcomes

Formal campus recruitment is not conducted for MBBS or clinical postgraduate students. After completing the compulsory rotating internship at Himalayan Hospital, most MBBS graduates continue through the NEET PG route.

Students from allied health, physiotherapy, MHA and M.Sc programmes can use HIMS connections with Himalayan Hospital and partner healthcare networks in Uttarakhand and Delhi NCR. MHA graduates have entered hospital operations, health administration and clinical coordination positions within private hospital groups.

HIMS Dehradun Rankings

HIMS does not have a separate entry in the 2025 NIRF Medical ranking. Its parent institution, Swami Rama Himalayan University, appears in the 151-200 band of the NIRF 2025 Overall category.

HIMS Dehradun Campus and Infrastructure

HIMS occupies a large green campus at Jolly Grant, 20 km from central Dehradun and close to Jolly Grant Airport. Its position beside the Himalayan foothills and near the Ganga-Yamuna riverine belt shapes the campus environment.

The multi-speciality Himalayan Hospital is attached to the institute and works as a referral and trauma centre for Uttarakhand. Its emergency, surgery, obstetrics, paediatrics and critical care departments give MBBS and postgraduate students bedside experience in major specialities from the early stages of study. Advanced facilities for imaging, oncology, neurosciences and cardiac care also support DM and M.Ch training.

Facilities include separate hostels for men and women, a central library, simulation laboratories, skill labs, anatomy dissection halls, sports areas and recreational spaces.

HIMS Dehradun vs SGRRIMSA vs Subharti Medical College

HIMS, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Dehradun, and Subharti Medical College in Meerut are private medical colleges commonly considered by students looking at Uttarakhand and the Delhi NCR region. Each has 150 MBBS seats, uses NEET UG for admission and offers state and management quota routes.

Among these colleges, HIMS has NIRF recognition through SRHU and the trauma services of Himalayan Hospital. SGRRIMSA has the earliest establishment year and operates with Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital in Patel Nagar. Subharti's Meerut location offers access for students from western Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR. Since all three provide 150 MBBS seats and have comparable fee bands, students generally distinguish them by NEET rank and preferred location.
