AIIMS Kalyani Admission Process
Entry to every AIIMS Kalyani programme requires the relevant national entrance examination. The institute does not admit students through walk-in applications or marks-based selection without a qualifying test. MCC centralised counselling is used for undergraduate and postgraduate seat allotment.
MBBS Admission
Applicants must pass Class 12 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Biotechnology. They need a combined score of at least 60%, while the requirement for reserved categories is 50%. A valid NEET UG score from the admission year is also compulsory.
- Stage 1: Qualify NEET UG with a suitable rank. AIIMS Kalyani's general-category last closing rank was 2417 in NEET UG 2025.
- Stage 2: Register for MCC online counselling and include AIIMS Kalyani while filling choices.
- Stage 3: Accept the allotted seat and complete document checking at the institute.
- Stage 4: Pay the required fee to confirm admission.
Every AIIMS Kalyani MBBS seat comes under the All India Quota managed by MCC. The institute has no state-quota seats, so applicants from across India compete through NEET UG merit.
MD and MS Admission
For MD and MS admission, AIIMS Kalyani mainly accepts the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test, or INI CET, conducted by AIIMS New Delhi. Some specialities may also use NEET PG scores through MCC postgraduate counselling.
An applicant must hold a recognised MBBS degree, finish the compulsory internship and have provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India, now known as the NMC.
DM, M.Ch and Super-Speciality Admission
A related MD or MS degree is required for admission to DM or M.Ch. Selection takes place through NEET SS or INI CET Super Specialty, followed by MCC SS counselling. DM choices include Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Medical Oncology, Endocrinology and other subjects. M.Ch is available in Neuro Surgery, Burns and Plastic Surgery and Urology.
B.Sc Nursing and Paramedical Sciences
AIIMS New Delhi conducts the common AIIMS BSc Nursing Entrance Examination for new AIIMS institutes, including AIIMS Kalyani. B.Sc Nursing (Hons.) applicants need Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Class 12, with at least 55% marks. Reserved-category applicants need 50%. Admission to the B.Sc paramedical courses uses the same qualifying examination, followed by course-specific seat allocation.
Entrance Examinations by Programme
Each programme group uses the entrance route shown below.

MBBS closing ranks change with the level of national competition. The general-category rank moved from 2176 in 2023 to 2435 in 2024 and then to 2417 in 2025. The figures below are arranged from the newest year to the oldest.

| 2024 | 2435 |
| 2023 | 2176 |
AIIMS Kalyani Placements and Career Outcomes
AIIMS Kalyani does not follow the usual campus-placement model. An MBBS graduate's next step generally depends on NEET PG results, government-service requirements and clinical experience gained during the course. Most graduates seek MD or MS admission through NEET PG after receiving clinical training in the AIIMS hospital environment.
Service Bond: Under the Government of India requirement for PMSSY AIIMS institutes, an AIIMS Kalyani MBBS graduate must work for one year in a government health facility after the internship. Failure to complete this service leads to a financial penalty. Students planning NEET PG study or education abroad need to include the bond period in their schedule.
After completing B.Sc Nursing or a paramedical degree, graduates may work in government hospitals, private specialist hospitals and other healthcare organisations in West Bengal or elsewhere in India. Since the institute is near Kolkata, students can also access the city's large private healthcare network for work and clinical training.
| Career Stage or Pathway | Typical Compensation | Notes |
| MBBS internship | INR 17,000 to 20,000 per month as stipend | Compulsory rotating internship in the AIIMS Kalyani hospital |
| One-year government bond service | INR 50,000 to 70,000 per month | Rural or semi-urban posting under a state or central government |
| MD/MS residency after NEET PG | INR 67,000 to 85,000 per month as stipend | The route followed by most AIIMS graduates |
| Senior resident or consultant after PG | INR 1.2 to 2.5 LPM in government employment or INR 1.5 to 4 LPM in private employment | Pay varies by hospital and speciality |
| B.Sc Nursing after qualification | INR 25,000 to 45,000 per month | Roles in government hospitals or private specialist centres |
AIIMS Kalyani Campus and Infrastructure
The 179.82-acre AIIMS Kalyani campus is located at Saguna in the planned township of Kalyani. It lies in Nadia district along the NH12 corridor, 50 km north of Kolkata, and has rail and road connections to the city. Its integrated grounds contain the academic block, teaching hospital, student hostels and residential quarters.
The hospital is approved for 960 beds. As of February 2024, facilities already opened included 360 inpatient beds and 18 ICU beds. Its OPD receives patients from West Bengal and nearby states. The hospital's 34 specialised departments are supported by facilities such as a cardiac catheterization lab, a trauma and emergency medicine bay, a radiation oncology centre and a burns and plastic surgery unit equipped with a fractional CO2 laser.
