Master of Law (LLM) is a PG course pursued by Law students who have completed their 3-year or 5-year Law degree from a BCI-recognized University. LLM admissions usually begin in April and continue until June. This course is offered by all the private and government-run law colleges and National Law Universities. Few Universities offer LLM in distance mode.
National Law College LLM admissions are purely based on the CLAT LLM entrance examination. The registrations for the CLAT PG examinations start in July and are open until November. LLM admission in the government and private Law colleges starts in April.
Apart from CLAT some Law colleges also accept other entrance examinations for LLM admission. Merit in the entrance examinations LSAT India, AILET PG, and URAT PG are also accepted for LLM admission. LLM Admission 2025 Eligibility
Educational Qualification:
- A three or five-year LLB degree from an accredited university.
- Candidates in their last year or semester of graduation are also eligible to apply for the LLM admission. But by the time of the last round of counselling, students must have earned the qualification.
Minimum Qualifying Marks:
Colleges may have different requirements for the qualifying examination's minimum score requirements. Candidates from the general category must receive at least 50% of the points for LLM admission at NLUs. SC and ST candidates must score a minimum overall aggregate of 45%.
LLM Admission 2025 Selection Criteria
LLM admissions is completely based on the merit scored in the entrance examinations. LLM is a 2-year postgraduate program that requires extensive research and hard work. The national entrance exam for enrollment in the LLM program is called CLAT. General knowledge, current events, logical reasoning, legal aptitude, elementary mathematics (numerical ability), and English (including comprehensive) are the subjects covered in the examination. The examination comprises of 200 questions of 200 marks. The test is conducted in online mode. The question paper will be written in English. The entrance exam lasts for 120 minutes.
