NLU Delhi Admission Dates 2027

The 2026-27 BA LLB and LLM admission cycles are finished. For the 2027-28 batch, AILET 2027 is the next entrance route for NLU Delhi BA LLB admission, while CLAT PG 2027 is relevant for the LLM cycle mentioned by the university admission details.

NLU Delhi Courses and Fees

NLU Delhi offers law, allied social science, research, and diploma programmes. BA LLB (Hons.) is the main undergraduate course, and it has 110 Indian national seats. At the postgraduate level, students can choose LLM options, MA (Law), and Ph.D programmes.

For BA LLB, women get 30% horizontal reservation across all categories. NLU Delhi does not keep any management quota, so admission is based only on AILET or CLAT PG merit.

NLU Delhi Admission Process

For BA LLB (Hons.), NLU Delhi follows a separate entrance route. It does not use CLAT for undergraduate admission. The university fills all 110 Indian national seats through the All India Law Entrance Test, called AILET, which NLU Delhi conducts for its own admissions.

BA LLB (Hons.) Admission

Students need 10+2 or an equivalent qualification with at least 45% aggregate. The minimum is 40% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. There is no upper age limit for BA LLB admission.

• Fill the AILET form on the official admission portal linked through nludelhi.ac.in.
• Take AILET, an objective test with Legal Reasoning, English, GK/Current Affairs, and Logical Reasoning.
• Check the AILET merit rank, because seats are allotted category-wise on that basis.
• Foreign national and OCI/PIO applicants use a separate supernumerary admission window for 10 extra seats.

Admission to BA LLB at NLU Delhi is highly competitive. General category applicants usually need an all-India AILET rank within the top 100 to 150 to get a seat. SC and ST cutoff ranks are much lower because seats are reserved under the central reservation policy.

LLM Admission

For LLM, applicants must hold an LLB or LLB (Hons.) degree with at least 55% aggregate. The standard 1-year LLM and the specialist LLM tracks use the CLAT PG score. Students with a valid CLAT PG score still need to apply separately to NLU Delhi through its admission portal.

Ph.D Admission

Ph.D applicants need an LLM or a relevant Master’s degree with at least 55% aggregate. NLU Delhi uses its own written entrance test and an interview for Ph.D selection. Applications are opened every year, and the current cycle notice is released on nludelhi.ac.in.

NLU Delhi Placements and Career Outcomes

NLU Delhi BA LLB graduates move into corporate law, litigation, judicial services, public policy, academics, and research. The Training and Placement Cell arranges campus hiring with Tier 1 and Tier 2 law firms, corporate legal teams, and international organisations. In the NIRF 2025 data, 65 of the 75 participating graduates were placed, giving a 94.20% placement rate.

The 2025 median salary for BA LLB graduates was INR 18 LPA. In the earlier cycle, it was INR 14 LPA, so the increase was 28.75%. Offers from senior partner tracks and international law firms can be much higher.

Graduates who join Tier 1 firms often start as Associates and become Senior Associates within 2 to 3 years. NLU Delhi’s NIRF #2 position and its Delhi location help students access Delhi NCR-based law firm headquarters.

NLU Delhi Rankings

NLU Delhi is placed #2 in NIRF Law 2025. It has held the same place for eight straight years. Among North Indian NLUs, it is the highest-ranked institution, and nationally it stands second after NLSIU Bangalore.

NLU Delhi Scholarships

NLU Delhi provides support through its Financial Assistance Policy. A Financial Assistance and Scholarship Committee reviews students for aid based on financial need and academic merit.

Students who need aid must submit income and financial documents to the Financial Assistance Committee at NLU Delhi. The university reviews this support every year.

NLU Delhi Campus and Infrastructure

NLU Delhi is based at Sector 14, Dwarka, New Delhi. The campus has academic blocks, a central law library, several moot court halls, and research and legal aid centres. These include the Centre for Criminology and Victimology and the Centre for Comparative Law.

Residential halls are available for male and female students on campus. Students can reach the campus through Dwarka Sector 14 station on the Delhi Metro Blue Line. The library has law reports, legislation, legal journals, and online legal databases.

NLU Delhi vs NLSIU Bangalore vs NALSAR Hyderabad

Law aspirants who take AILET and CLAT often compare NLU Delhi with NLSIU Bangalore and NALSAR Hyderabad. These three universities are usually seen as the leading group among India’s NLUs.

NLU Delhi has an advantage for Delhi-based law firm access because it is close to the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court. NLSIU Bangalore has the #1 NIRF rank and is widely treated as the top NLU overall. NALSAR has a bigger BA LLB intake and lower fees. Students who do not meet the AILET cutoff for NLU Delhi can try for NLSIU or NALSAR through CLAT.
