The ICSE Class 10 exam pattern for 2027 is given in the official subject syllabus. Students take the compulsory Group I subjects, at least two Group II subjects and one or two permitted Group III subjects. Marks, paper length and internal assessment change by subject.
Most Group I and Group II subjects use an 80% external paper and 20% internal assessment. Many Group III subjects use a 50% external and 50% internal split.

ICSE Subject Marks and Duration
The timetable fixes the final duration for every paper. The 2027 timetable is awaited, but the official 2027 syllabus already confirms several subject patterns.

How Internal Assessment Works
Schools assess project work, practical work and other tasks set in the syllabus. They submit the marks to CISCE. In English, the internal work includes listening and speaking. In Mathematics, the school assesses the prescribed project work. Practical-heavy Group III subjects give a larger share to internal work.
Reading Time and Paper Instructions
The 2027 regulations say the reading time is printed on the first page of each paper. In the 2026 timetable, candidates received 15 minutes to read the questions before writing time began. The paper itself tells students how many questions to answer and whether any section is compulsory.
