May 14, 2025: NEET SS 2025 counselling round 1 registration and choice filling is open till May 18, 2025. Read News Here
NEET SS 2026 counselling will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee for DM, MCh and DrNB super-specialty seats after NBEMS declares the result. The 2026 counselling dates are not announced. The exam is tentatively scheduled for 11 and 12 December 2026, so the counselling process is expected in 2027.
The latest MCC scheme available is for NEET SS 2025. It had online registration, fee payment, choice filling, seat allotment and college reporting. The same scheme is a useful guide for 2026, but MCC may change the rounds, dates or fees in the new notice.
MCC, under the Directorate General of Health Services, conducts online counselling for participating DM, MCh and DrNB super-specialty seats. NBEMS conducts NEET SS and sends the result data. MCC then uses the group-wise rank, choices, course eligibility and seat availability to allot seats.
As per the 2025 scheme, MCC handled 100% All India Quota super-specialty counselling, with a separate arrangement for the in-service quota in Tamil Nadu. The 2026 MCC notice will confirm the participating seats and any state-specific rule.
Qualifying the exam only allows a candidate to take part. Admission also depends on the PG feeder specialty, documents, chosen course, rank and the seat available in that round.
The whole process is online until a seat is allotted. The candidate then reports to the allotted medical college with original documents.

Registration and choice filling remain open only during the dates given by MCC. A candidate who registers but does not submit choices will not receive a seat. Saved choices are considered in the order entered, so the first choice should be the most preferred eligible option.
The 2025 MCC scheme had two main online rounds. A later stray round was used for seats left vacant. The 2026 round plan is not announced yet.
| Stage | Who can take part | Main rule in 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | Qualified candidates who register, pay the fee and fill choices | Report to the allotted college; non-joining after allotment could lead to loss of the security deposit |
| Round 2 | Candidates without a Round 1 seat, eligible new registrations and joined candidates who asked for an upgrade | Fresh choices were compulsory; an upgraded seat replaced the Round 1 seat |
| Stray round | Candidates meeting the rules in the separate MCC notice | Used for seats still vacant after the main rounds |
A candidate who joined in Round 1 and wanted an upgrade had to give that choice while reporting. If a better seat was allotted in Round 2, the earlier seat was cancelled. If no new Round 2 choices were filled, the joined Round 1 seat stayed with the candidate under the 2025 rules.
MCC has not announced the NEET SS 2026 counselling fee. In the 2025 scheme, the non-refundable registration fee was INR 5,000 and the refundable security deposit was INR 2,00,000. The total payment at registration was INR 2,05,000.
| Payment in the 2025 scheme | Amount | Refund rule |
|---|---|---|
| Registration fee | INR 5,000 | Not refundable |
| Security deposit | INR 2,00,000 | Refunded after counselling if the refund conditions were met |
| Total | INR 2,05,000 | Only the security part could be refunded |
The security deposit could be taken by MCC when a candidate received a seat but did not join, or when wrong details led to cancellation at reporting. Eligible refunds went back to the same bank account or card used for payment. These amounts should not be treated as the final 2026 fee until MCC publishes the new scheme.
Candidates can select only courses for which their postgraduate specialty is an accepted feeder. The number of choices was not limited in the 2025 scheme, but each option had to fall under the paper group taken in NEET SS and meet the course rule.
MCC allotted seats using rank, saved choices, course eligibility and available seats. Choices were checked from the top of the list. A lower choice was considered only when the preferred options were not available at the candidate's rank.
Choices could be changed before locking. If a candidate saved choices but did not lock them, MCC automatically locked the saved list at the deadline under the 2025 scheme. Once locked, the order could not be changed for that round.
The allotted college checks the original documents before completing admission. The exact 2026 list will come with the MCC scheme and institute notice. Based on the 2025 process, the main records included:
Candidates without the required original documents were not allowed to complete admission under the 2025 scheme. A letter saying that the originals were held by another college was not accepted in place of the original certificates.
