IIM Amritsar is accepting applications for PhD Admission 2025. Candidates can apply online through the IIM Amritsar admission portal. The application fee is INR 1500 for Gen / OBC / EWS candidates and INR 1000 for SC / ST / PwD category candidates.

IIM Amritsar PhD Eligibility

• Candidates must have a Master’s degree or PG Diploma or its equivalent in any discipline with first class.
• Candidates with BTech or any 4-year bachelor’s degree with a 6.5 CGPA or equivalent are eligible.
• Any professional qualification such as CA / ICWA / CS / CFA- Level-II (USA) with a graduate degree in the relevant subject having a minimum of 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade can apply.
• Candidates appearing for their final year of Master’s / Bachelor’s examination may also apply. However, their admission to the program will be provisional subject to their successful completion of all requirements for obtaining the relevant degree before June 30, 2025. These candidates need to submit their mark sheet and degree certificate by December 31, 2025. Non-fulfillment of this condition will result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

IIM Amritsar PhD Selection Process

• Candidates must have taken the Common Admission Test (CAT). Alternatively, those who have taken GATE, GMAT, GRE, or JRF (UGC/CSIR) in the respective specialization can also apply in the relevant area of specialization.
• National Level Test Scores taken during the last two years (after July 2023) will be considered.
• The candidates will be short-listed based on their academic record, national-level test score, and research interests and will be called for a personal interview (including Research Aptitude Test and Written Analysis Test) for final selection.

IIM Amritsar PhD Scholarship

IIM Amritsar provides limited financial assistance to its doctoral students including monthly fellowships, annual contingency grants, and research grants to attend conferences / workshops. The details of the same are as follows:

• A consolidated doctoral fellowship amount of INR 40,000 monthly during the first and second years of the program.
• A consolidated doctoral fellowship amount of INR 45,000 monthly from the third year to the end of the fourth year or till the submission of the thesis, whichever is earlier.
• In case of satisfactory progress, the grant of the doctoral fellowship for the fifth year INR 45,000 monthly may be considered.
• A one-time computer purchase grant of INR 50,000 at the end of the course work is provided.
• INR 25,000 yearly (for four years) as a contingency grant to cover expenses related to attending conferences, workshops, purchase of books, and relevant research activities on a reimbursement basis upon the production of receipts.
• Up to INR 1,75,000 for attending international conferences / workshops / summer schools during their entire tenure with the Doctoral Program, on a reimbursement basis, upon production of receipts.
• The students are provided medical insurance as per the Institute’s student welfare policy.

IIM Amritsar Hostel Fees

• Full-time doctoral students will get accommodation on twin sharing basis amounting to INR 6000 monthly.
• Full-time married PhD students will receive accommodation amounting to INR 10,000 monthly.

Note: The hostel will be allotted to students subject to the availability of rooms.
