IIM Shillong Admission Dates 2027

The 2027 admission cycle is active. CAT 2026 is used for PGPM admission and may also be submitted for PGPWE, which accepts CAT or GMAT. PGPEx has its own application rounds and considers CAT or GMAT scores. IPM admission is through the IPMAT conducted by IIM Indore.

IIM Shillong Courses and Fees

Six main programme families cover full-time management study, executive education, the integrated BBA-MBA route, doctoral study and certificate courses. For the 2-year PGPM, the total charge of INR 26,18,000 includes tuition, hostel accommodation and mess expenses.

IPM fees are divided between two stages. During the BBA-equivalent first 3 years, the annual amount ranges from INR 3,81,000 to INR 4,11,000. Each of the MBA-equivalent fourth and fifth years costs INR 13,09,000 per year. The institute also conducts executive certificate courses and Faculty Development Programmes.

IIM Shillong Admission Process

Admissions at IIM Shillong are based entirely on merit, and no management quota is available. The institute fills every seat through its own shortlisting and interview process.

PGPM Admission Process

For PGPM 2027-29, the initial shortlist considers CAT 2026 performance, previous academic results and work experience. Applicants must meet the sectional CAT cutoff separately in VARC, DILR and QA. The minimum in each section is 75 percentile for General and EWS candidates, 60 percentile for SC candidates, and 50 percentile for ST and DA candidates.

1. Candidates are compared within six academic streams: engineering, commerce, science, humanities, medicine and other disciplines.
2. Shortlisted applicants take the Written Ability Test, or WAT, and attend a Personal Interview, or PI.
3. The final merit calculation awards 10 bonus points to candidates from a non-majority gender.
4. Government of India reservation rules are applied as follows: General 67.5%, EWS 10%, SC 15%, ST 7.5%, and DA 5% within each category.

PGPEx Admission Process

Applicants to PGPEx need at least 5 years of work experience after graduation. They may submit a valid CAT score from either of the last 2 cycles or a valid traditional-format GMAT score taken within the past 5 years. The institute reviews the applicant's professional record, leadership responsibilities and personal interview performance. For PGPEx 2027-28, Round 1 closes on November 15, 2026.

IPM Admission Process

Class 12 students enter IPM through the Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test, or IPMAT, administered by IIM Indore. They must have studied Mathematics or Applied Mathematics in both Classes 11 and 12. The required Class 12 score is at least 60%, reduced to 55% for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Applications for the 2027-32 batch are tentatively expected in May 2027.

PGPWE and PhD Admission Process

PGPWE applicants must be graduates with at least 2 years of work experience after graduation and must hold a valid CAT or GMAT score. Admission to the PhD in Management requires a postgraduate qualification with 55% marks and a valid CAT or GMAT result. Candidates choosing the PhD route for Working Professionals must also have at least 5 years of professional experience.

IIM Shillong Placements

For the PGPM batch of 2023-25, the 2025 placement process involved 141 recruiters. The IT and Analytics domain produced the highest CTC of INR 71.5 LPA. Across the batch, the average reached INR 27.03 LPA, while the median was INR 26 LPA. Students in the top 10% received an average CTC of INR 41.13 LPA.

Consulting and Strategy accounted for the largest share of recruitment and recorded a sector-high CTC of INR 46.87 LPA. The highest figures in Finance and Sales and Marketing were INR 42.75 LPA and INR 43 LPA, respectively. More than 2,700 alumni work in India and other countries.

Microsoft, LatentView Analytics, ServiceNow, Merilytics and Baker Hughes are among the main recruiters. Along with Indian companies, international recruiters engage with the institute, which holds AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA accreditation.

IIM Shillong Rankings

NIRF placed IIM Shillong at #38 in its Management category for 2025, based on a score of 57.7. Its strongest NIRF measure that year was Graduation Outcomes, with a score of 95.96. The institute also has AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA accreditation, a combination held by fewer than 1% of business schools worldwide.

IIM Shillong Scholarships

Students can seek financial support through the institute's need-based assistance programme and government-funded scholarships. Residential PhD scholars may receive fellowship support for as long as 4 years.

Applications for need-based support must be submitted to the institute's financial aid office during admission. For government scholarships, students need to apply through the National Scholarship Portal within the relevant academic cycle.

IIM Shillong Campus and Infrastructure

The fully residential IIM Shillong campus covers 120 acres in Umsawli, Shillong, Meghalaya. Its hill-station setting contains academic buildings, student hostels, staff housing and other facilities within one self-contained campus.

Accommodation for male and female students is arranged across four separate hostel blocks. The Knowledge Centre occupies 10,000 sq. ft. and includes reading areas with views of the Khasi Hills. A high-speed optical fibre LAN supplies wired and wireless connectivity throughout the academic and residential annexes.

Students also have access to a department store, canteen, banking facility and post office on campus. Continued investment supports academic infrastructure, faculty quality and learning resources, alongside the institute's AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA accreditations.
