List of Affected Exams

A total of four national-level examinations have been marred with controversies which has sent shockwaves across the student community. Here is a list of exams that have been affected.

NEET UG 2024

NEET UG exam, held on May 5, was the first exam to be besieged with irregularities. The probe regarding the irregularities in NEET UG has been handed over to the CBI.

NTA has specified that there will be a re-test for 1,563 candidates who were awarded grace marks in NEET UG 2024. The candidates who were provided grace marks have two options i.e. accept the previous NEET UG score without the grace marks or sit for a re-exam.

NEET UG’s alleged paper leak is currently under investigation with numerous sections demanding the exam be cancelled and the NTA to be held responsible for the gaffe.

UGC-NET June Session

UGC-NET June Session was held on the 18th of June, 2024. After the exam was concluded, the official notice of the cancellation of UGC-NET was announced. The decision led to dismay among the candidates, with numerous aspirants traveling considerable distances to the test centers.

CBI has taken over the probe for UGC-NET June Session after the University Grants Commission (UGC) clarified that it had received inputs that the sanctity of the was compromised.

Media houses are reporting that the UGC-NET paper leak is akin to the NEET UG paper leak, further eroding the confidence of the aspirants in the NTA.

CSIR UGC NET

The third exam to be affected in June is CSIR UGC-NET. The National Testing Agency released an official circular citing unavoidable reasons and logistics issues for postponing the exam. The new dates for the exam will be released soon. The exam was scheduled to be held between June 25 and June 26 which is now postponed

NEET PG

The fourth exam to be affected is NEET PG. The exam was scheduled to be held on June 23, 2024, and has been postponed as a precautionary measure. The Ministry of Health released a statement, stating, “Taking into consideration, the recent incident of allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations, the Ministry of Health has decided to assess the robustness of NEET PG entrance examination, conducted by the National Board of Examination for medical students.” Fresh dates for NEET PG will be announced soon by the authorities.

Will CUET UG be Affected?

The furore over the cancellation and postponement of national level entrance examinations may affect CUET UG as well. As of now, the registration process for undergraduate admissions is already ongoing in institutions like Delhi University and any delay in the declaration of CUET UG results will adversely affect the calendars of numerous institutions.

While CUET UG results are expected to be declared by June 30, 2024; students are questioning the delay in the release of CUET Answer Keys. Once the CUET Provisional Answer Keys are released, there will be a window to challenge the answer keys. The million dollar question now is will NTA be able to accommodate it all before June 30? The clock is ticking and so far the NTA has not released any official communication regarding the release of CUET UG Provisional Answer Keys.
