Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for NEST 2025 are eligible if they have the following criteria:

  • Must have completed or be appearing for 12th Standard (or equivalent) exam in 2023, 2024, or 2025.
  • A minimum of 60% marks (or 55% for SC/ST/Divyangjan candidates) in the Class 12 examination.
  • Must be placed in the NEST 2025 merit list.

Application Fee

The application fee for NEST 2025 varies based on the candidate's category:

  • Female applicants (all categories): ₹700
  • SC/ST/Divyangjan applicants: ₹700
  • Male/Other applicants (UR/OBC): ₹1,400

How to Apply for NEST 2025

To apply for NEST 2025, candidates need to fill up an online application form available on the official website www.nestexam.in. There are three stages of application submission:

  • Phase 1: Registration and furnishing basic information like Name, Date of Birth, Email ID, and Mobile Number.
  • Phase 2: Login with the credentials sent via email to complete the application form.
  • Phase 3: Seek technical support if needed through the Helpdesk.

Candidates should apply before May 9, 2025, so that it reaches the council before the expiry date.

About NEST

NEST is a national-level entrance exam for admission to the Integrated M.Sc. programs at NISER and UM-DAE CEBS, both of which are institutes established by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. The institutes aim to train scientific manpower and contribute to frontier research in various scientific disciplines. The exam will be conducted in over 120 cities across India, ensuring broad accessibility.

Apart from being accepted to the most elite institutes, selected students are also eligible for a scholarship under the DISHA scheme amounting to ₹60,000 per year and are given summer internships that include a grant of ₹20,000. Several such students have continued on to take up Ph.D. programs in top universities abroad.
