Who can apply for the SRMIST PhD programme?

The official page asks for at least 55% marks or an equivalent B grade on the UGC seven-point scale. A foreign degree must come from an accredited and recognised institution.
Candidates who have completed MPhil coursework and hold an MPhil degree with at least 55% marks can also use the route mentioned by the university. SRMIST provides a five per cent relaxation for SC, ST, OBC non-creamy layer and differently abled candidates, subject to the rules on the official page.
Full-time and part-time PhD routes
SRMIST lists three broad categories. Full-time scholars do research at the university. Part-time internal candidates are SRMIST employees. Part-time external candidates may be employees of an industry, college, government office, research organisation or another recognised research centre and must be sponsored while they continue to work.
The normal duration is three to five years for full-time PhD programmes and three to six years for most part-time routes. The exact subject, supervisor availability and department rules can affect the route offered to an applicant.
