- Campus is well equipped with modern facilities that support a comprehensive leading environment. The proffessors at PMEC are incredibly knowledgeable as i have mentioned, their unique way of expressing their learnings onto us in a manner that we understand and most importantly never forget.
- Life at PMEC isnt just about academic(Personal overview). Its filled with a lot of extra curricular activities, competitions, fests, It provided me the all rounded college experience in the 4 years of my life over there, and offers even numerous opportunities(so i have heard from juniors) till date(I think thats not gonna fade any time soon) to explore and develop their interests beyond the classroom
Dislikes
- The bureaucratic procedures at PMEC can sometimes be a little frustrating. Tasks like getting transcripts, paying fees, or even accessing certain facilities often involve a lot of paperwork and long wait times, though i hope it changes over time(the delay processes)
- Has a commendable infrastructure our college, yes, but certain aspects could use an upgrade. Better WIFI connectivity and more updated equipments in some departments would enhance the learning experience significantly
Remarks :
I chose PMEC for its affordability and reputation within Odisha for a solid education. The college has a good track record, especially in Computer Science and Engineering branch, which alligns well with my carreer goals. And the fee structure was another deciding factor, it was a manageable option compared to others, making it a choice for both education quality and financial stability Admission was based on OJEE scores(ODISHA JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION), which is the standard for many engineering colleges in states. Seats were allocated based on ranks and cutoffs specific to each branch. The cutoff for Computer Science varied each year but generally favoured higher scores due to popularity of branch. There wasn't any separate group discussions or personal interview round of admissions
Course Curriculum Overview :
I personally chose the CSE course and the reason i was more encouraged towards it was because of my own interest in technology and programming, and the college's CSE curriculum offered a good foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of computer science. The program balanced core subjects like data structures, algorithms with the electives that allowed us to explore specific interests, such as ML and web development. Most of our proffessors were highly qualified, holding master's degrees or PHDs, and were knowledgeable in their fields. And many of them as far as i remember had experience outside of academia, which actually helped bridge the gap between textbook knowledge and practical application. There is a plus point too, as the teachings were mainly lecture based, but they mostly focused on questions and discussions, which made learning more interactive. Exams were conducted on schedule each semester with a fair level of difficulty if one have kept up the assignments
Internships Opportunities :
During my time at PMEC, i opted for a chance to undertake an internship from Datamites, where i worked on several Data Science projects. DataMites is a well known institute focusing on various-data driven technologies, and my role there was challenging yet rewarding, Challenging as in i have never worked on knowing what Data science is and yet practising it and performing to execute projects based on it, was certainly rewarded to me. I have worked on several projects using the basics of it as data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, predictive modeling etc, the one project that was very crucial to me was a project on (ANALYSIS OF KOBE BRYANTS SHOTS) and predicting it using the past data of how many shots did he make(that was the foundation), first step involved finding location of the shot(x,y coordinates), data preprocessing, feature engineering, Model training, model evaluation, and the application
Placement Experience :
Placement opportunities are steadily improving i would say, with many students securing roles in IT and tech related fields. While there isn't the same level of recruitment activity as metropolitan colleges, there are several companies that visit campus each year. The eligibility criteria for placement typically require students to have a minimum CGPA(minimum 6.0) and no backlogs Some of the companies like Infosys, TCS, WIPRO, TECH MAHINDRA, offering roles in software development, testing and IT services. The number of offers can vary, among companies. On average, 50-60% of students in CSE branch secure placement offers. The highest salary package generally reaches around 6-7 LPA, typically offered by companies SD roles. Average package is 3-4 LPA which is typical for entry level positions
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fee structure is relatively affordable compared to many other engineering colleges. The basic yearly tution fee was around 30900INR per year for my batch, though fees might vary slightly depending on the category of General, SC, ST. For a 4 year course, the complete fee was 1.25 to 1.3 lakhs only. Its worth noting that fees have remained fairly steady, although its always a good idea to check with admissions for latest updates. For general category it was around 30900 every year, for SC ST and other quotas, students generally pay a reduced fee due to government subsidies and support, but as far as i know for Management quotas, fees are generally a little bit higher but details depend on college's latest policies
Campus Life :
Ahh, well life on campus was engaging and community-oriented to be precise. Students are welcoming, theres that collaborative spirit, with plenty of opportunities, through clubs, activity and study groups. Main fests called Technotrix used to take place around February every year. Basically a big event on campus, with technical competitions, cultural performances and workshops. Additionally there was a cultural fest that used to occur/held called UTSAV,held on month of march where students showcase talents in music, dance, drama. There were also few student- run clubs on campus like Coding Club, Robotics Club for students interested in hands on projects. Though these clubs were small, but they were growing, and new members are always welcome
Hostel Facilities :
Since i was a day scholar at PMEC, I didnt personally stay in hostel, but i have gone to hostel to stay within the hostel with my friends, while the cultural fests were going on, and i think as boys within the hostel, one could know from a day what exactly it feels like, so i will try to share some light upon it. Hostels were fairly basic but adequate for student needs. Rooms are generally shared, furnished with bed, study table, cupboard, bathrooms are shared and maintained regularly, though frequent upgrades would enhance comfort. The mess provides meals three times a day(breakfast,lunch and dinner), its quite average only. Never in the coming years can one call the mess's food as exceptional, ever! Some students opt to dine out occasionally to add variety to their meals. Hostel seats are limited, so students are encouraged to apply early through college's official website, fees are relatively affordable, but can vary slightly every year. Pg's are available close to campus

There campus placement here are ok startups came here and many big mncs like tcs, flipkart etc. Some department get companies like the MBA but that is an exceptional case. No other department participate in campus drive or placement cell. Students need to apply off campus to get placed.

for placement students need to get atleast 7cgpa. The placement is decent where most students around 85% get placed . Main companies are accenture, tcs, infosys , cognizant etc. Highest package was 9lpa and average was around 4lpa . I plan to work in one of the companies i get placed in.

Placement Experience :
Students are eligible for placements from third year onwards on a condition that the student has good skills and created good projects. Companies are still coming to ITER since July, various companies like Wipro, Xerox, Paytm, Flipkart, DELL, Microsoft, TCS Infosys and various other MNCs and startups come to the campus for placements and also provide pre placement offers. Currently I have no idea about the highest and average packages as per the company and the profiles offered, but I know that the highest package offered in Iter has been 43 lakhs pa and the average package is around 6lacs-8lacs. There are certain criteria set by the college for the students to be eligible to sit in the placement, out of that more than 85% to 90% of eligible students have secured placements. Students also get internships from second year. After I get a degree and if I land a suitable job then it's okay otherwise I will look to get into civil services or defence.

It has average placements. They also provide training for that. You will be eligible from 4th year. They also provide practice schools where the eligibility is 8 cgpa. They also provide training in the 3rd and 4th year. The companies which I know are Infosys Accenture Capgemini Genpact Mindfire solutions Mindtree. Tcs. pwC Deloitte Inovaare Tata Power Cosmovolt Tech Mahindra etc. They mostly provide the packages in the range 3.5-6 lpa ..The average oncampus placement this year was 4.5 lpa and the highest was 14.5 lpa. The 30 lpa shown was off campus. So you can get jobs according to your skills and cgpa . Overally the placement is just average but roi may be better.

Actually as I am a undergraduate I don't exactly know how much is the eligibility criteria for placement but I know that the guest lecturers are given according to number of classes they do in a month My plans after getting a degree is to give jrf net /gate and to further study in reasearch lines.

Profiles offered are mostly of software engineer and average package is around 600000 per annum . My plan after getting degree is to go into software engineering job .

The placement scenario is quite good as most of the students get placed before the completion of course with a decent package. Average package is around 8lpa and the highest package till now is 60+ lpa.

Yes, we do have a placement cell over here and is quite good. Many well-known companies come to recruit their employees, and the companies are quite satisfied over our senior's hard work and smartness. Many companies like Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Delloyd, etc., come to give good placements to the students at the college. I don't know the exact numbers, but the highest package was around 45 lakhs, and the average package was around 5 lakhs per annum. The average percentage of students getting placements is roughly around 70% to 80%. Currently for me, I don't have a solid plan to what to do but you never know some miracle might happen. Just joking, I do have a plan for the near future, but I am little worried about the future that on one before me start that initiative that I have thought about it.
