- I like the faculty and their experience which improves their way of teaching, though the infrastructure is a bit old but still it does not hamper your learning, campus life is great if you will have a good company
- If you are not afraid of cold and walking great distances then it is a great College for you. You will not regret choosing this college after you degree
Dislikes
- Infrastructure is a bit old As shimla is a hilly area, so it is a very conjusted city and the space for the campus is less.
- The college and hostel buildings are at a considerable distance from each other. City of Shimla has a unpredictable weather and it can rain anytime, so you have to have an umbrella handy with you. All the best for your future
Remarks :
Good aspects of my college - 1. Best and oldest college of the state 2. Has the best faculty in the state 3. The hospital has the most no. of patient input in the state, which proves to be very essential for your good medical training 4. Located in the state capital, hence you can also have a good city life along with your studies 5. Hostel facilities are very good, as there are not any strict restrictions and hostels are cleaned everyday 6. Has a great legacy Bad aspects of college - 1. As the college is very old (established in 1966), the infrastructure is a bit old 2. Hostel and college building are at a distance from each other 3. It is located in shimla and transportation facilities are not that good in shimla Admission process - Same as for any other medical College in India You have to qualify NEET-UG, and then participate in AMRU HP counseling for state quota seats or MCC counseling for All India seats Cutoff (for general) acc. to 2024 ranks- 635 - state 665 - AIR
Course Curriculum Overview :
Choosing MBBS is an obvious decision as I was good in biology in my school and I thought that I had the capability to score good marks in NEET so I went for it and then cleared the exam Faculty in IGMC shimla is the best. And we have ample of professors and residents in every department. Terms exams occurs every 3 to 4 months in a academic year and each one of them include a lot if syllabus for which you have to plan your study accordingly. The exam includes questions from the clinical and non clinical aspects of the subjects
Internships Opportunities :
As mentioned above internship is compulsory for the completion of degree. And in all the govt. medical colleges in the state of HP the stipend during internship is Rs.20000 per month. The good thing about IGMC shimla is that the high patient input in the hospital will introduce you the rare cases early on your career which will help you in your next step after MBBS. You learn a lot about handling if patients during your internship
Placement Experience :
As in MBBS, internship is compulsory and during internship you get a stipend of Rs. 20000 per month After MBBS you can opt for govt or private job or you can go for PG exams Almost all of the MBBS students who are passouts of this college does great in their lives and become great doctors further on.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Tuition fees - Rs. 60,000 per year (for State quota and all india students) And 20000USD for NRI students Hostel fees - Rs. 24,200 per year, out of which Rs. 3,000 are security deposit and are refundable Currently the academic fees for NRI students is around 16 lakhs per year.
Campus Life :
Life in college depends on how well you adjust with your batchmates and seniors Every year the college fest happens, which goes by the name Stimulus. And the preparation of the fest begins a month prior and during that time the juniormost batch gets to interact with the seniors and to have parties with them. The fest is a great opportunity as we get to enjoy a lot in it and clear our mind from the pressure of studies and attendance for a while. Our college do not have much facilities for sports but then also lot if extracurricular activities occurs in our college which ranges from academic activities like quizzes, debates etc. to non academic activities like cultural activities, esports, outdoor and indoor sports competitions
Hostel Facilities :
I reside in the IGMC boys hostel which comprises of two buildings (Raman Hostel and Bhabha Hostel), which is at a good location and will provide you with a great view of the hills of shimla The one great thing about the boys hostel is that very student has their own personal room Food quality is very good and the menu us diverse, you can also give your custom orders in the mess Hostel rooms are allotted according to merit and the fees is Rs24,200 per year for everybody But if you do not want to reside in hostel you can live in a PG. As there are lot of PGs available in the city near the college area
