I personally chose this college knowing that it has the best placement record compared to any other maritime institute. Yes,we had in total 2 exams which were a central exam IMUCET and a college admission exam TMISAT both of them were of easy to moderate difficulty which was followed by an interview held by college on passing after which we had a group discussion with the vice principal Cpt. Bannerjee on zoom call which was to resolve our doubts regarding the college and the career in this field. The college admission cruteria is min. 60 percent pcm in 12th boards and for me personally i didn't prepare much but was still able to pass all the exams with a good score.
I choose this course for the economic factor that comes with it. In this field we are able to travel worldwide while earning a good amount which is also tax free. The faculty in TMI are highly educated and experienced most of the faculties are phd holders and many are from marine field ( Captains and Cheif engineers and other crew ). Their teaching method is Excellent and we are able to finish most of our studies in college itself. The exams are hold every 2 months on a average with a moderate difficulty level.
Though I didn't apply for any internships yet but from seniors experience intership is of 2 types In the first case the Shipping company gives you a paid internship and takes you on board ship as an engine cadet offered by companies like synergy, chevron, British Petrolium etc In second case the college asks you to pay to complete your internship on the campus ship as directed by companies.
The eligibility criteria is to have zero backs but students can still get placed with a backlog given that they clear it within the course duration. Many top rated shipping companies like Wallem, Chevron, Eps, British Petrolium etc. Have visited college to recruit from my batch each taking on an average 4 cadets each. Highest package f9r internship is around 1000000 for internship which can go upto 2400000 per annum after tge first promotion on an average a cadet is ppaced with a package of 700000. For my course upto 96 percent cadets get placed from in campus recruitment. After the degree i ppan to pursue job in the same field.
The total fees is 2800000 for 4 years which is paid in 8 installments with approx 350000 per semester. There is various scholarships programs like mol womans Scholarship, Synergy Scholarship etc. The college also provides relaxation for Reserved Classes and Girl cadets. There is also scholarship given on basis of merit per semester to top 30 rankers in form of discounts in the next semester fees. Rank 1 is awarded 40000 Rank 2 is awarded 30000 Rank 3 is awarded 25000 Rank 4-20 are awarded 20000 Rank 21-30 are awarded 10000 An additional scholarship on basis of entrance exam score is awarded in the first semester which follows the same pattern of scholarship listing.
In tmi in each year there is a sports meet which involves activites like cross country ,Marchpass ,Mass demonstration ,football ,basketball ,squash and other racket games which is conducted in both semesters if each year. We also have a cultural event named horizon which is conducted in the second semester of each year it involves dance competition, singing competition and other various competitions and dj night. The activities takes place as a competition between houses. The library of our college is moderately equipped with both old and new books. The classroom is subpar with a projector blackboard and wooden benches. The college offers over 30 sports facilities and 25+ club activities. There is an Academic assistance club meant to help students with academics and placement runned by the students thenselves.
Our college is a compulsory Residencial college. The food is decent and menu is also good. It charges 228 per day for 3 course meal and snacks which is quite average in maharashtra. The hostel hygiene is below average with dirty toilets and uncleaned kamods. The rooms are bigger as compared to other engineering colleges.
I haven't reached my placement stage yet but from what I have seen the college doesn't wait until the final year to start preparing students. We have coding sessions, skills building workshops and career guidance from the beginning. Seniors also share their experiences which gives us a better idea of what to expect. I feel the college is helping us build the right foundation for internships and placements. At the same time, I think getting a good job also depends on how much effort we put into improving our own skills. So far I feel I am on the right track
no placement data is present now but many of students are working on their own projects and few are cracked the internships and now currently serving their period on the companies and it's really great opportunities.
The college does have a placement cell. It provides some in campus placements . Rarely 2% students get in campus placements. Rest have to find jobs pn their own. You wi have to do alot of interships and gain practical skills to be placed
Diffrent companies have different criteria, limited companies comes in campus such as bootcoding Pvt.Ltd , and some small companies arrived. Highest package giving by companies is 4 LPA lowest package is 3LPA and average package is 2.5LPA. about 20% of students got placed. Searching a job after my course computation.
The faculty members are supporting but inexperienced the experienced professionals have left the college long time ago. This is one of the old colleges in Pune. The semesters are generally proactive extracurricular activities are less and are given not much priority .
There are the placements are done in the final year of college, You are eligible for the appear in the placements drive you have to score good scores in the semester exams. There are the lowest 3LPA and highest 6LPA packages are offered by the companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, BOAT, SBI , Ultra Tech, Mahindra, Capgemini etc. Students have to maintain their SGPA up to 8.0 CGPA.
engineering course curriculum is very old specially for university batch students my batch get admission in 2022 at that our college is not get autonomous status. passing semester exams is little hard in university compare to autonomous batch. faculties teachings methods are very old. And not practical learning provided.
