- NIT Jamshedpur has a busy and dynamic campus life, striking a perfect balance between rigorous studies and thriving student extracurricular life. With a vast green campus, it provides a tranquil atmosphere for learning while being versatile in its ability to host a wide range of clubs and societies that welcome participation in various technical, cultural, and social events.
- Fests are the important part of an institution. Ojass is the most awaitedfest, which is celebrated annually. People across all nationalities can participate in this event, which offers a good variety of workshops, competitions, and lectures by industry experts. Utkarsh, as the name suggests, is the cultural fest of all talent enriched activities, be it music, dance, drama, or the literary competitions-all come under one roof. These events electrify the campus with tremendous energy, encouraging students to display their own talents, broaden their horizons and escape the rigors of academia.
Dislikes
- Although NIT Jamshedpur boasts outstanding academics, the seriousness of study can sometimes prove too much. The curriculum is on the strict side, allowing for few personal discoveries or lazy afternoons. It is a challenging balancing act between studies and extracurricular activities, with this affecting many students' mental health.
- Beyond all this, the campus is lively with informal events, gaming competitions, and sports activities: there is almost always something exciting in sight. These events would only add spice to life on campus, making it a wholesome and unforgettable experience.
Remarks :
In addition to NIT Jamshedpur, I applied to IIT Bhubaneswar, NIT Warangal and IIIT Delhi. The results were not favorable for me at both IIT Bhubaneswar and IIIT Delhi but I chose to go to NIT Jamshedpur due to its excellent engineering course, campus activities and the scope for research and internships. The admissions were largely through JEE Main and therefore, I felt that my score is more suited to the needs of NIT Jamshedpur than any other institutes. Even though I did not get through a few of the elite colleges, I was pleased with my decision as the course structure in this institution is very comprehensive and the campus helps in all round development of students.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum at NIT Jamshedpur is good as it contains a right blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exposure.The core engineering subjects were well covered in addition to an ample number of elective courses which allowed us to go for different fields.In the degree.Being more concerned about making the students ready for their professional lives, therefore, we are exposed various projects and internships during our course tenure.One thing that lacks in our current system is that there sould be interdisciplinary subjects and the current technology trends should also be included in th curriculum. Exams take place twice every year. The level of difficulty appears quite high but not unfair. The college follows semester system however,the internal assessments are scheduled in such a way that one doesn't get tym to cope up with other activities along with studies leading to hectic schedules
Internships Opportunities :
NIT Jamshedpur offers incredible placement opportunities with students becoming eligible for placements starting in the 7th semester. Students get visits from top organizations like JP Morgan, Tata Consultancy Services, and Flipkart. Depending upon the profile, packages range from 6-50 LPA. It has been observed that about 85% of the eligible students get placed every year. The highest package was INR 60 LPA for a top finance company, while the average package across all branches was INR 8-9 LPA.
Placement Experience :
Excellent placements, NIT Jamshedpur, accepts students beginning from the seventh semester. The likes of J. P. Morgan, Tata Consultancy Services, and Flipkart visit the campus with packages from 6-50 LPA depending on the profile. Every year, around 85% of eligible students are placed. The highest package this year was 60 LPA for a role in a top finance company, while the average package across all branches was 8-9 LPA. Thinking of joining a job in the technology industry right after my graduation, I might take my chance and try for a Master’s in technology to develop my skill set.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure depends on the category of the applicants. The tuition fees for both general and OBC students is set at ?1,25,000 per year which when combined with the other applicable fees such as hostel, mess and others comes to ?1,60,000 approximately on a yearly basis. Meanwhile, SC/ST/PwD students are not required to pay the tuition fee but only around ?35,000 for other charges only. There are scholarships available under schemes provided by central and state governments like NSP (National Scholarship Portal), e-Kalyan (Government of Jharkhand) and some others. These are generally for the economically weaker section as well as the reserved categories. Many private scholarships are provided based on merit. The fees remain constant for the past few years but may be revised as per the government and institute policies. In the case of general/OBC students, the estimated fees for a complete 4-year B Tech Course is approximately ? 6,40,000.
Campus Life :
NIT Jamshedpur gives a good standard of living. It provides a platform to develop all the skills(both technical and non-technical) for students who explore themselves in order to reach their own potential. Ojass tech fest (January) and Utkarsh cultural fest (October) are two events where the students with different ideas about entrepreneurship come together to show their skills.i have seen people making robots, coco cola from scratch.writing scripts etc. Our college library has numerous books and journals which u can necessarily take benefit of by consistently issuing books.We have CCD , Nescafe besides our college canteen with frequently available discounts on almost available items.I will not say we have state_of_art infrastructure but ya its better than most colleges out there.we r provided with projectors in most of the classes whose condition is good ,very well maintained class rooms.Basically if you want to nurture what ever your ideas are this place would be great.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facilities are quite adequate at NIT Jamshedpur-the room has some basic furnishing such as beds, study tables and wardrobes. The hostel provides 24hour water supply and electricity, Wi-fi, and security services. Food served in the mess is pretty good but variety is sometimes very limited, especially in the non-vegetarian menu. The registration process for the hostel is done online, which is quite convenient. For the price, accommodation remains affordable for students. For those who want rented accommodation, Bistupur is a preferred choice among PG localities. These PGs host students, are comfortable and have amenities like Wi-Fi, Meals, and Security, while the locality is safe for students, with plenty of shops and cafes around.

Placements are the main reason people come here. For Electrical, big players like Tata Steel, JSW, and Vedanta are regulars. The average package stays around ?7–8 LPA, while the highest can go up to ?15–20 LPA for core branches. You become eligible for placements from the 7th semester. I’m planning to sit for GATE as well, as many seniors here aim for PSUs. For internships, the college helps with vocational training in places like DVC or HURL, though paid internships are something you usually have to hunt for yourself on LinkedIn.

College give only about 30% placement and there is very few companies or hospitals which are visited to the college for the employees. You have to do it with yourself when you are go to the internship. The highest and average package as I see is about 30,000 per month and maximum to 50,000 per month And I saw that student who top is maximum getting chance for the placement which is rare .
Netaji Subhas University is best for engineering in low fee and for who is already doing job

I don't have any specific information about placements because I am still studying, but some seniors have got jobs which tells me that everything is fine. There are some seniors who work in Tata Motors and DRDO with good payments.

The intern is provided for training in nearby schools in 3rd semester. It is unpaid internship basically done under the curriculum.It is compulsory for the students to complete this teacher's training to get the B.ed degree. There is no such placement opportunities You have to go off campus to get placed in any school.

There is no campus placement in this college, so we have to plan our own jobs or internships after completing the course. Eligibility criteria for jobs depends on companies, mostly they ask for basic knowledge and skills related to the course. Some students do internships on their own in local companies or online. Since there is no official placement, there are no recruiters, packages or offers from college. Around 0% students get placement from college itself. My plan after degree is to prepare for government jobs and also apply for some private jobs related to my field. Overall, college is good for learning, but for placements you have to work on your own

"Placements in my college are slowly improving but still not at the level of top engineering colleges. Some companies visit every year but the number of offers is limited. Expensive college with mediocre placements

Placements are mediocre in my branch ece. Last year 60-70 percent students are placed. Average package is 13lpa approx and highest in my branch was 58lpa. Core companies like NXP come for placement. Tech companies like foipkart, meesho, visa, goldman sachs come for placement.
