Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad, also known as IIT ISM Dhanbad, is an autonomous institute set up in 1926. It is the third oldest institute after IIT Roorkee and IIT BHU.
IIT ISM Dhanbad offers courses in Engineering, Management, Science, and Humanities. Its main course is BTech, where admission is through JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counselling. The annual BTech fee is INR 2.45 Lakhs.
In rankings, IIT Dhanbad stood 15th in India and 1st in Jharkhand in the NIRF Engineering category in 2024. IIRF placed it 8th in India for Management in 2025. Course Curriculum Overview:
It is totally based on my rank which I secured in jee advance exam . The academics are upto date and the faculty will teach us in practical manner .The labs will give us more knowledge about the subject. Exams were connected twice for a semester like mid and end . The difficulty level is medium to hard based on the professor interest. But the subject we gained here is useful for us in many ways and in many situations in our working environment.
Placement Experience:
The eligibility criteria is the student must maintain cgpa above 7.5 . The companies offered are like accenture, torrent power, Gujarat mineral development corporation, Special blast limited energy etc.. The package offered is approximately 12 to 15 lpa . The percentage of students getting placements are 60 to 80 % . But nowadays it is increasing. My plan is also get a job in SBL energy . The highest package is 40lpa.the average package is 12lpa.

The highest package in our campus is 59 LPA and average package is 21.17 LPA.The placement rate is 70 percent.

It's good with 90 percent placement. Companies come for both core and non core roles apart from that it's good for person if one in interested in mining and other core branches and non core roles also .

Course Curriculum Overview:
Academics and all are very decent. Proffs depends branch to branch and can be nice to sometimes not tolerable enough but seniors and clubs are there for your career which would ultimately help you giving that push.
Placement Experience:
Anyone getting more than 6cgpa is eligible for on campus placement. The on campus placement is decent with highest package going to 70 lakhs. Off campus placement has been till 2.5 crore. And around 70-80% people get placed.

Course curriculum is based on the New Education Policies. There are compulsory , departmental elective , open department elective, management related courses and humanities courses offered in the study of 4 years..
Placement Experience:
Placements at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad are strong, with top recruiters like Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and JLR. Eligibility requires a minimum CGPA. The highest package exceeds ?50 LPA, with an average of ?15-20 LPA. Over 80% secure offers. I plan to secure job through the college placements.

Course Curriculum Overview:
B.Tech in Mechanical at IIT ISM was the best thing I could get at my JEE rank. Branch change is also relatively easy here as compared to rest of the IITs. Faculties here are extremely qualified. Some of proffs have their PHDs from foreign universities like Stanford, MIT. Grading system followed here is realtive i.e. 25% of the classes gets A/A+ and rest receive B+/B/C+ etc.
Placement Experience:
Placements here are not at par with top 7 iits. Highest package received this year was 66 LPA. Top recruiters include SquarePoint, Google, Flipkart, PhonePe, SLB, Chevron, Bajaj. Avg package is around 12 LPA and Lowest package received was 6 LPA. This year around 60-65% are only placed. I had received and offer from PhonePe and will be joining them after my degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:
Very honestly i say this " i choose this course because i can't get any better opportunity in IITs". But after getting this course i feel that thre are great oppourtunity in foreign developed countries. Faculties are very qualified some had done their Phd from universities like Oxford ,IIT Bombay etc and They are good at teaching(mostly, some have accent problems). There are mid term exam(30% weightage) and End term exam(50%) , between then profs can 2 quizzes or assignment (20%).Their is relative grading, and difficulty level, question pattern all depends upon profs.
Placement Experience:
Placement opportunities are good compared from private colleges but not as good as top IITs. Eligibility depends on companies some have CGPA criteria some has branch restrictions . Google Microsoft Amazon Goldman Sachs Walmart etc recruit ,the on campus highest package is around 53 lpa and the average is different for different departments (mostly it range from 12 lpa to 30 lpa) for lower branches most companies offer around 8-10 lpa in core sector. around 80-85 % students were placed ,numbers are low for some departments but some have numbers like 95-96 . I am going to my core sector. for internships around 300-350 students were recruited ,Mncs mentioned above come for internships also it rang mainly from 40k to 150k some provide more than that some are low in it .

Course Curriculum Overview:
Coming to academics we have the best professors i have choosen mechanical engineering in this college for me personally i feel very difficult because it has more depth in this course and difficulty level.
Remarks:
For admission for this college i wrote mains and advanced exams . Factors are firstly i saw NIRF ranking and infrastructure of this college and placement percentage for this college soo i choosen this college.
