The most important thing was to get an NIT Tag, which each student wanted. Also in many social media, people talk about the exposure and pros of joining an Institute of national importance which motivated me to join this college.
All the faculties here have completed there Ph. D.s from IITs and NITs and are well qualified. The course structure is also good and it keeps on changing depending on the needs of the industry. Recently an AI ML course was introduced as it is gaining demand. 2 midterms in a gap of 1 month and 1 end term in each semester are conducted. Any student who follows the class well can get a good 8+ GPA in exams. The teachers are also very helpful and supportive and a faculty advisor is allotted for every 10 students to guide them for anything they need. The Institute notifies us about various scholarships in NSP, FFE, etc and many students in our college are awarded. Moreover, there's a fee remission for the lower-income category and SC ST students.
For placement, the CGPA criteria differ from company to company but usually, it is 6+ for most companies and 7+ for some IT companies. The highest package this year was 44 lakh from the EEE branch, placed in NVIDIA and the average was 9LPA. Our college has a record of 100% internship for all branches. Last year, the percentage of placement was 70. approx.
We have 2 fests in a year, one is a cultural fest named Udgam, and the other is a technical fest. Both are held with great enthusiasm, although not too big stars come to our fest due to its remote location. Also, there's an annual sports week organized every year where various indoor and outdoor sports tournament is held. There are various clubs and cells such as The Regnant Ink(literary club), Anuvrat, E&I cell, etc. Which helps in the overall development of students by organizing various events timely. As it is a temporary campus, the hostel is not that good. 5 people have to adjust in a single room and mess food is kind of ok. But due to its remote location, some people might not feel much good here but it is a pollution-free environment in NIT Sikkim with Kanchenjunga at its peak.
Placements and job opportunities are given to students after their completion of internship some may get the opportunity in between their internship, like recently our department seniors were gone for their internship and they are receiving amount of stipend in their internship at around 7000 rupees which was good thing for them
Curriculum is far well balanced having skill subject's let you have knowledge in other fields like as an medical you can be able to choose hospitality management such as bakery to gain knowledge in baking and the faculties are really supportive and overall academics are good
Recently Our senior's got placement at highly companies in banglore they were from MBA n BBA...our college had tied with many companies n by which many of us r getting employed n it's skill university offcourse we r trained to do something n to perform critical thinking by which we r ready to dive.
The placements are not highlighted as most students apply for jobs in a wide range of off-campus sites. My plans after getting the degree is to clear NET and continue with my education as a PhD scholar.
No guarantees . There is no placement guarantee in our college if you pass you pass their is no guarantee that you'll get a job after the college i have seen my seniors driving taxi after college and I'm afraid
Although the college claims 100 percent placements. I have seen my seniors running and applying for job interviews here and there. However i feel only 50- 60 percent gets placed by the college campus interview. But also there are many opportunities outside the college so one doesn't have to worry for placements.
Yes we do have internship program. If you do diploma you will get one OJT that can vary upon the field of your interest such such you want to move to another location or not And if you are not diploma then you get one OJT plus last 9 months of internship then placement.
job and placements are on average side and if we look at roi of the college then i would say it cannot your first priority but the situations are changing and placement are getting better over the years.
Their is no placement after the completion of course we have to apply to any school by ourselves whenever the govt provide interview for the teacher we can apply in that we have to faced interview to get this job
As this college do not provide placement but you will get the idea what to do next as college conduct different programs where we get the idea of what we can go for after completing our cources ..the job according to your cources
So the University doesn't have any sort of Placement Cell however the student body has assured that they will make it work and resume it soon. But as of now not having Placement benefit is a disadvantage. However, if you're good enough to crack NET exams and some other entrances than even some of the private universities can take us into consideration. I'm planning to crack NET and continue with PhD if I get a chance otherwise I'll have to crack good amount of entrances.
