- Just the location is in a good place. You get to be in the winter capital of Himachal Pradesh. Right in the lap of Himalayas it's a sight to behold . Also the climate is good and the air is fresh. Unlike some states , we can see a blue sky and live .
- It's a locality accepting pretty much everything, LGBTQ Prades are done, tibetian culture from the refugees is there , pahari culture is there and to top all that , there's the local food. It's amazing and fres, unfortunately not so cheap. So yea food is awesome .
Dislikes
- The faculty is good yet the staff and infrastructure of the college is still far behind . It needs to develop really soon and really good. Also the old rigid system of grades and assignments which is literally useless should be taken out .
- Have somebody actually run it for once instead of pleasing those politically strong people and their own ideologies . No opposition is even allowed to exist and that leads a real shift in power balance here. It's gonna lead to radicalism one day for sure.
Remarks :
There are two ways to get into the university and the course I'm studying in,i.e; 1. CUET , 2. By directly going to the university to apply . The university launches a circular about both of these ways in its official site . (CUHP.in) It feels good to study sanskrit here as the teachers are actually diverse and immensely knowledgeable. Like many professors are from different parts of the country itself. They're all very understanding and extremely knowledgeable . It's better than choosing your local state college .
Course Curriculum Overview :
Well it was My plan B to opt for sanskrit if nothing worked out and then prepare for Civil service examinations and it still is. The faculty is good, genuine and smart people ...they teach like how they do in gurukul. The exam timings are off . Literally off. My first sem started in September and ended in December and then I had to give even an exam for it which I don't think even got its syllabus finished . So not the very best experience.
Placement Experience :
No campus placements without clearing a shit to of tests that take years to clear and still damned competition from seniors in that too . I plan on taking govt. Exam with my degree as a eligibility criteria requirement and then aim for setting some buisness.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Well to begin with, the fee structure isn't bad at all for the students studying sanskrit as the government itself is promoting education in this field . Only examination fees is taken from students which is around 800 per semester and you're also eligible for a scholarship of 8000 rupees if you manage to score above 60% in your exams . The registration fees included the semester fees as well as other basic fees like Id card fees and admission fees and it was around 2400 in total. There isn't much financial strain on a student pursuing this field but it's gonna cost much more for the students in the university who aren't studying sanskrit. Like one of the students in M.A in English has to pay 52000/sem as fees. So sanskrit students are really lucky in that aspect.
Campus Life :
Nothing much ....just a dead beat building..it looks like a town for now. A new building is getting build but it'll take a while and till then we'll have to bear with this one . The only good thing about this one is that we have a decent library but that too is always packed to the last seat so good luck finding a seat or some book u actually wanna read.
Hostel Facilities :
Well I'm a day scholar and hostel rooms aren't available for UG students so good luck with that and what I've heard from the masters students it's not so much of a brighter side ...the hostel is far from the campus ...like they literally have to travel for like 20 kilometres (it's a mountain area don't compare travelling 20 km in planes with it).
