Good College but Stay Socially Vary and On-guard

- Classrooms have AC (survival necessity in Delhi summers).
- Mental health specialist is available on campus on-demand (have to drop a mail 1-2 days prior).
- Corporate exposure, reputation and prestige.
Dislikes
- Campus area is extremely small, and the Rohini location is not the best or the safest part of Delhi.
- Underwhelming sports and extra-curriculars.
Remarks :
The corporate prestige and placement figures, along with positive reviews from relatives, family and friends who are alumni of the college. However, sometimes the competition among the students can get toxic. Admission involved taking the CUET Exam, and this course considered marks from English, Maths (Applied and Standard both) and General Aptitude Test. There was no GD/PI or any other requirement for selection. After CUET, one must apply to DU colleges through the CSAS Portal, rank their preferences by course and college, and wait for the merit list. English and Mathematics syllabus coincides with Class 12 NCERT syllabus. General Test needs to be prepared separately. It usually includes Logical Reasoning, GK, etc. Before the merit list, a "Tentative Rank" was released for each course. You can view that rank only for a set timeframe, it will be gone forever after that. This will be followed by the merit lists. I was able to convert in the first list as a general candidate at rank 196.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum is basic only. The choice was influenced more by the college rather than the course. The environment teaches you to deal with pressure, competition, toxicity and stress, while making you corporate-ready. Faculty members are permanent, ad-hoc and guest, though permanent faculty are a bit less in numbers. All have at least Master's, and most have/are pursuing a PhD. Some even have industry experience in corporate, CA, etc. Exams are held every semester. It is difficult to fail a DU exam, but given the competition, it is expected for everyone to stay at the top of their game. If your CGPA is <7.5 by the 3rd semester, you won't be allowed to sit for placements (unless your attendance aggregated up to 3rd semester is >75%). Keeping up with the internal assessment is also important, which requires a steady academic presence. Since NEP, internals are almost half of the overall grade, so last minute cramming will still cost you a lot if you don't keep up throughout the semester.
Internships Opportunities :
Internship opportunities exist, but they are scarce. Most students get internships off-campus, and complete multiple internships before the placement season. Some have to take unpaid internships just to fulfil the eligibility for placements. Stipends, and quality of job role and employer, vary. I completed 2 internships during college, both off-campus, as a content writer first and then as a founder's office intern at a tech start-up.
Placement Experience :
Placements happen in two phases. The first phase considers CGPA/attendance up to 3rd semester, and the second one considers up to 4th semester. Most top companies visit in the first phase only. Students must have 7.5+ CGPA OR 75%+ aggregate attendance, along with a summer internship of at least 4 weeks during their internship break after 2nd year. Resumes are to be built as per the format and guidelines by the Placements Committee, which are authenticated at the beginning of both phases. You will also have to submit an internship report. Top companies like MBB and Big 4 visit, but mid-sized firms and small start-ups also recruit. Some students go unplaced. Profiles like analyst, associate, executive etc. are offered. Highest packages have been going up to INR ~28 LPA, but used to be higher earlier. Average packages are INR ~11 LPA. Some get placed at as low as INR 3 LPA. Top company roles have cut-throat competition. I've appeared for CAT and will pursue MBA after graduation.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
All the years have a fee of INR ~20K+. The fee increases by a thousand or two year by year (e.g. First Year: INR 20,100; Second Year: INR 21,100; Year 3: INR 22,100). Scholarships and concessions are available for SC/ST, PWD, EWS candidates, both need based and merit based. Fees have also been increasing batch by batch. Examination fees are paid separately for all semesters to DU Exam Wing. Improvement Examinations, Revaluation Requests, etc. also take extra fee (usually INR ~1K-2K).
Campus Life :
The college is primarily academically inclined, but fests do happen (April/May); just not at the level of a typical North or South Campus DU college. Library is extensive, both digital and offline. However, faculty-recommended textbooks get issued very fast. Classrooms are world-class, as the campus was recently constructed (in use since 2017; other DU colleges had their campuses built decades ago). Each classroom has podium, projector, modern furniture, AC, etc. Seminar halls are also there separately with a higher seating capacity compared to classrooms. Sports and ECA lags behind compared to a typical Delhi college; like mentioned, the institute is academics-focused. But they do have admissions through Sports and ECA quota. There are 40+ student societies: academic, cultural, social service and administrative. All have their own independent activities, social media, events, and more.
Hostel Facilities :
I was not in the hostel, but limited seats are available to students residing outside a 60 km radius from the campus. Relaxations are made for marginal cases, if hostel seats are empty. Mess food isn't bad, but gets boring very quickly. Breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner are included. Seat allotment starts only after the session commencement, so students will have to arrange accommodation for the first few weeks anyhow. Rooms are triple sharing but very spacious. I'm not sure of the hostel fees, but it's definitely between INR 1-2 lakhs per annum. PG and flats are also available in surrounding Rohini areas, though safety is not very good compared to other parts of Delhi. Hostel has a strict curfew of 08:30 PM, extendable to 10:00 PM with parent/guardian's permission. Being out of the hostel building is not allowed after late night. You can find PG/flats on sharing basis for less than INR 10K per month, but only rent, without food, housekeeping, bills, etc.

But for science students, there are rarely any science background companies hiring as even as an intern. Many science students go for higher studies. So, Rarely science students get placement and if placed then not in company of science background.

Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose my course because I was interested in learning a business environment and management processes. Faculties are very well experienced and professional , and teaching methods are good. Term exams are held every 6 months and difficulty level is not very high .
Doing masters in political science from Daulat Ram college

Drc has a decent placement for bachelors students and cell is very active, invites companies like Amazon, Deloitte, ipac , accenture, etc and offers around 6-20 lac. But drc doesn't provide placements for master's students, though there are many external opportunities to grab in . Masters student do apply for internships in political and policy roles and even get placed in political consultancies and awarded with fellowships.

The placement cell is quite active. There are always placement and internship fairs every year and even other college students can join them. The placement recruiters are from top companies like Deloitte, KPMG, EY, etc. Although, not every one gets in these companies but then, there are other companies as well like Finshots, Voice Your Vichaar, etc. The average package is 3LPA and highest package is 8LPA.
