At an undergraduate level, this is India's top college for pursuing a Bachelor in Planning. In 2014, it was declared an "Institute of National Importance" and last year it got the status of "Centre of Excellence" in the field of urban and regional planning. It has multiple MoUs with international universities and government authorities (as external consultants) that help in gaining admissions to foreign universities and internships respectively. Admission to this college is done based on scores obtained in JEE Main Paper - 3 for the B.Plan Course and a minimum score of 98-99 percentile is required for getting admission. The minimum eligibility for appearing in this examination is mathematics at +2 level, no matter whichever stream you belong to.
Although urban and regional planning can be considered as a tough and hectic course, the subject expertise of the faculty makes it interesting. Most of the faculty members are doctorates from European/American universities and the teaching method adopted is way different from other universities and courses. The B.Plan course is divided into 8 semesters (4 years) and theoretical exams are scheduled after each semester. A practical studio-based learning is undertaken where any Indian city is chosen as a case study and field visits are conducted in that city to assess multiple aspects that would help in deciding its future course of development. The progress of this task is checked by faculty every Monday which is designated as "Studio Review Days". The college is registered on multiple scholarship portals of the government and eligible students have received grants from multiple state and central departments.
The college acts as an external project-based consultant for various government bodies like DDA, State Town Planning Departments, NHAI, PWD, etc and hence getting internships in government bodies is not an issue. But most of them are usually unpaid. Many students opt for internships in private consultancies and think tanks like CEEW, SEEDS, NIUA, CSE, etc which usually pays them a good stipend of Rs. 5000-10000. A small section of students also prefer to pursue internships in premier academic institutions like IITs and IIMs which are useful if one is interested in going towards research/academic fields in the future.
For the B.Plan Course, placement is a major issue where the on-campus rates hover between 10-30%. The rest of them get placed through off-campus means. Though this might appear disheartening, the 4 years of rigor teach you how to get your dream job on your own. Moreover, we have a very strong alumni network that helps in getting placements and internships. The average package offered at undergraduate levels varies from 3-6 LPA. Most of the students get admissions for masters in other universities which gives a significant jump of 3-4 times in their undergrad salary levels.
There are 12-13 extra-curricular societies to explore your creative sides that range from music, dance, drama, etc. 2 cultural fests are held in a year - Utopia and Mini Utopia that bring together the entire college along with all its alumni onboard a 3-day lifetime cultural experience. The college also participates in multiple inter-college sports events but the lack of playing areas within the campus is a major issue for the students. An annual sports event "Athlos" is also organized every year by the college. All the classes are air-conditioned and the library is one of the best in Delhi, especially in the domain of architecture and planning, Remote access to the library is still underway and might get activated in a couple of months. The hostel is a significant issue as there is a lesser number of seats and allotment is done based on semester marks. But there are other staying options like PGs and individual flats near the college.

I chose my course because I was interested in learning a business environment and management processes. Faculties are very well experienced and professional , and teaching methods are good. Term exams are held every 6 months and difficulty level is not very high .
