Remarks :

Exam: Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH-CET) 5-Year Law Seats: I was an Outside Maharashtra Candidate so there are just 10% seats for me. The remaining 85% of reservations are for Maharashtra Candidates and the remaining for NRI. If you are also from outside Maharashtra then you need to be amongst top scorers to get in (Below 100 AIR). Preparation: CLAT coaching material and GK books like Manohar Pandey. Good Aspects: 1)Best Alumni Base in the legal field in India. 2)Flexible attendance policy so enough time for internships and govt exams preparation. 3) Pocket friendly 4) Very active placement committee 5)Excellent location. A few steps from the Bombay High Court Bad Aspects: 1)Administration in Shambles 2)Poor infrastructure. Just one building is your campus. 3)Outdated academic curriculum 4)No college life, just professional internship culture. 5) Poor faculty, irregular lectures

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course for 5 year BA.LLB because the attendance policy at GLC, Mumbai is very flexible which allowed me to explore the industry with a lot of internships. Also, the alumni base of GLC is very influential which helps you to easily land internships and placements across the best firms in the country. The faculty is mostly on a contractual basis with few permanent teachers from the Government of Maharashtra. Classes are irregular with no approachable faculty. you build your potential and educate yourself. Exams are controlled by the University of Mumbai and are subject to arbitrary checking. Just pray to god once you have written them. They are random. Difficulty level is easy. Being a completely government institution it is very pocket-friendly with almost negligible fee hikes. However, the college offers no hostel facility so overall the cost rises due to accommodation and food arrangements. There are scholarships for Maharashtra candidates only.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes, for 1st year all internships are with high court advocates mostly, some go for district courts as well. Generally, 1st years get no stipend or very meagre ones. From 2nd year you get great stipends extending to as much as 50,000(Morgan Stanley).

Placement Experience :

You need to be atleast in the 4th year of a 5-year law course to sit for placements. Internships come for all years. A few top-tier recruiters are Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Shradul Amarchand Mangaldas, AZB Partners, Asian Paints, etc. The highest package on campus was 20 LPA and the average is 8 LPA. Most of the students go for off-campus placements. I am still exploring, not sure whether I will go for litigation or corporate. GLC provides placements in both.

Campus Life :

An annual fest called Zankaar is there. Usually organized on campus during late February every year since 2017. However still in its infancy. Books and journals in the library are all outdated no use in reading them. GLC boasts of a few books more than 150 years old. The original IPC by lord Macaulay is kept here. Sports teams are there who go to inter-activities. However, there are multiple other clubs like debate, ADR, Moot courts, cultural, etc which are super active and have won laurels all over India. The placement committee is also there and has its website. NO HOSTEL FACILITIES ARE PROVIDED BY THE COLLEGE

An industry focused learning experience

Placement Experience :

I haven't reached my placement stage yet but from what I have seen the college doesn't wait until the final year to start preparing students. We have coding sessions, skills building workshops and career guidance from the beginning. Seniors also share their experiences which gives us a better idea of what to expect. I feel the college is helping us build the right foundation for internships and placements. At the same time, I think getting a good job also depends on how much effort we put into improving our own skills. So far I feel I am on the right track
