I chose Manipal for its quality of student life. Life, both on and off campus, is amazing with all the experiences and opportunities one can hope for in undergrad years. Only meritorious performance in the written entrance test was considered for admission, no other factors save a minimum cutoff in 12th boards. I prepared for these rounds through boards and standard engineering entrance exam prep only, no dedicated prep is required in my opinion.
The course curriculum is extremely diverse and updated almost every five years in consultation with industry partners. The courses are not only nationally acclaimed (Manipal is the only private engineering Institute of Eminence, alongside BITS Pilani), but also internationally recognized via the IET accreditation. I chose the course because of the strong fundamentals it offered in hardware engineering, which is something I want to pursue after college. The faculty are all well-qualified, pursuing legitimate research regularly and the teaching methods utilized in class are often PowerPoint presentations, accompanied by verbal lectures and blackboard chalked-out tutorials, which is effective enough for most courses. The exams are held twice a semester - one midsem for 30 marks and the final endsems for 50 marks. The remaining 20 marks for reserved for internals such as quizzes, assignments etc. Exams are reasonable and not difficult to pass.
Notable companies offering internships include Microsoft, Nvidia, Arm, Amazon, JP Morgan, Salesforce, Goldman Sachs, etc., with stipends ranging from 35k-1L per month. There is an online coding test for software roles, which filters out most of the eligible candidates, and then 1-3 rounds of technical interviews with DSA, OOPs, DB and System Design questions followed by a final (optional) HR round before the offer letter is sent out. Projects include internal tooling usually, with some wizards working on products with 5-20 MUA that have been shipped already. Tasks include implementing several new features and fixing bugs across critical codebases for the companies mentioned.
The eligibility criteria for placement is a 7.5 CGPA, but companies also impose their criteria, such as 10th and 12th board marks and possibly a higher CGPA cutoff like 8. Renowned companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Salesforce, Goldman Sachs, Nvidia, Visa, JP Morgan, etc recruit across 5-15 roles, each offering an average package of 16-18L for CS-related and circuital branches. The highest package through campus placement regularly touches 54L, offered by Microsoft, which is led by our alumnus Satya Nadella, by the way, so it does make quite a few offers here. Almost everybody eligible for placements gets placed here, with the rest opting for postgraduate studies, with our alumni in every Ivy League you can imagine, and some go on to found their own companies, examples including Fractal Works, Formi and UpEase. My plans after getting a degree are to join a startup that makes products I'm passionate about in a hardware or software role, I'm proficient in both.
Life in Manipal is absolutely beautiful. The college stands out among its private peers for not treating us like primary school children. Girls and guys can be friendly, a bad hangover does not get you suspended, and there is no dearth of places to party and socialize. The most happening part on campus, though, is the student projects' centre. These guys are building their own solar-powered, autonomous, formula (student) racing cars alongside custom-built robots, rockets, mars rovers, hyperloops, autonomous drones, eKarts, VR/AR worlds, and CTF teams. It is extremely rigorous and prestigious, with alumni of these student racing teams making it to several prestigious companies and universities. There are several reputed clubs here, including the local student branch of some acclaimed institutions like the IEEE, ACM, Google DSC, Apple DG and FAE. Hostels are diverse - with several options depending on your budget. There are multistorey blocks with a beautiful valley view and AC.
There are top rated faculties which are present in the college who have pursued MBBS and MD degrees from top colleges and have for an exam to become a professor in this college and the teaching skills are pretty great as they make a topic pretty easy to understand for students
The placement and job opportunities are good in our college. Our college provides us only with UG Courses so most of the students pursue higher education after that. The placements are good in our college. If I talk about internships so they are very good. Our college provides both paid and unpaid internships to students.

All the faculties are extremely well qualified from top institutions of the world and they are all extremely approachable and nice. The term exams we had were split like CP1, CP2, and CP3 of 20+25+25 marks each. They were some easy ones, and some application based, which develops the engineering thinking mindset
