Our college is one of the top colleges in Karnataka, and it is well known for Mechanical. This is one of the main reasons I chose NIE. The placements in this college are top-notch, and the ambiance, the environment, and the study atmosphere here are excellent. The only minus is the parking, there is no proper space for the 2-wheeler parking, and we have to park in one building and walk to the other for lab classes. The admission here is through KCET/COMEDK, a good ranking can get us an aided seat in the college. The fee for the aided seats is around 45-50 thousand, but for unaided it goes up to 1 lakh. For those coming through COMEDK, the fee is around 2 lakh per annum. The preparation for these exams is very easy, they are similar to NEET and would require at least 1 month of rigorous studying for a good rank.
As I mentioned above, NIE is known for Mechanical. Also, I'm an automobile enthusiast. These made me choose Mechanical at NIE. The faculty here are very qualified, most of them are PhD holders, some of them have Doctorate degrees, and most of the others are also pursuing it. The lecturers are very friendly and have good teaching methods. The most usual is of Chalk and Board, but the theory lessons are done through PPTs too. There are projectors in every classroom. The semester-end examinations are conducted after every sem i.e., after 2 internals. the internals are quite easy since they are only for 20 marks, but the exams are difficult. The academic fees were hiked by 5000 every ear stating skill development course fee. but the cost of studying is quite low, especially if we get into the college through KCET. There is a scholarship from the government called the SSP, which provides money to people from minorities and rural backgrounds.
We had to do a 4-week Internship after our 4th semester. I completed my Internship at BEML, Mysuru. We were a team of 10 people in the internship where we learned about modern-day manufacturing processes and machining.
The placements here are top-notch. Even during the days of recession, there have been excellent placements on the campus. The students appearing for placements should have no active backlogs and must have a CGPA of at least 6. The bigger companies ask for a minimum CGPA of 7.5. Some of the companies that visited our college were, Mercedes Benz, Daimler Trucks, JK Tyres, Bosch, Boeing, Schnieder, etc. Some of the mass recruiting companies hire around 10-15 members, but the core companies hire only 4-5 people. The highest package has been around 45 LPA and the average package is around 8 LPA. Some of the most common profiles offered are Design Engineer, R&D Engineer, Software engineer, etc. There has been 100 %placement of students pre-covid. However, even during the recession time, the placement rates are still high. My plans after my degree would include getting placed in a good company and then after a couple of years, pursue my Masters in any specific field I'm interested in.
Our college fest is named TeckNIEks, which is conducted every year in May/June. Each year we have a specific theme on which the fest is conducted. Coming to the library, the amount of knowledge we can gain here is huge. There are 3 different sections where one can study, sit, and borrow the books. There is even a separate section, which contains computers with internet access. The classrooms here are well-lit and spacious. Every classroom is equipped with a projector, some of them even have a smart board. The sports ground on the campus is very huge. The students are trained for a lot of sports such as Football, hockey, Softball, volleyball, throwball, etc. We also have an indoor stadium where badminton, Table Tennis, and carrom is played. There are around 30+ student clubs in the college that are completely run by the students. From Entrepreneurship to Formula Student and SAE racing, we have all kinds of clubs for every student's interests.
There are top rated faculties which are present in the college who have pursued MBBS and MD degrees from top colleges and have for an exam to become a professor in this college and the teaching skills are pretty great as they make a topic pretty easy to understand for students
The placement and job opportunities are good in our college. Our college provides us only with UG Courses so most of the students pursue higher education after that. The placements are good in our college. If I talk about internships so they are very good. Our college provides both paid and unpaid internships to students.

All the faculties are extremely well qualified from top institutions of the world and they are all extremely approachable and nice. The term exams we had were split like CP1, CP2, and CP3 of 20+25+25 marks each. They were some easy ones, and some application based, which develops the engineering thinking mindset
