- There are certain things which one can like on the campus like the environment of the campus is very nice and the view from the hostel is very pleasant to our eyes.
- Second, the library of our college is nice and all the books are available in our college library along with that we have access to e-Library which we can use at any time by using our college credentials. Along with that, we go for trekking and beach cleaning by our different clubs.
Dislikes
- One thing that we dislike here is that we face a lot of network issues and here Airtel and Jio do not work and we have to buy Vodafone to call.
- The second thing that I dislike about the college is we have to take form and get signed on it by the warden and faculties whenever we get out of the campus.
Remarks :
I have chosen Naval Architecture and Ship Building at Indian Maritime University, Vizag as my course and there are a total of 50 students in my batch there is another batch of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering consisting of 50 students, and a total of 100 students are in our batch. I have chosen this course because I was very much inclined towards the Indian Navy and always wanted to work around the ships and oceans. Therefore this course seems very interesting and also useful for my future decisions. I appeared for the IMU CET test in June last year and after qualifying for admission in various courses offered by IMU and Affiliated colleges. I was given IMU Vizag and after paying the confirmation fees, we were instructed to report to the campus for document verification after document verification we were given a date and Academic Calendar along with the Admission Confirmation Receipt. We also went to see the hostel and mess.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Here We have two Branches for BTech, the first one is Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and the other one is Naval Architecture and Ship Building. I have Chosen Naval Architecture and Ship Building as my course. Here Faculties have done PhD in their respective subjects and the quality of teaching is very student-friendly, we can ask doubts any time and also can contact them in case of difficulties. The batch strength is 100 and there is a good unity in our batch. We have a total of 8 semesters and 2 semesters per year, in each semester we have 2 internal examinations and a final semester examination at the end of the semester. Initially, a Scholarship was provided to students based on merit rank but it was removed after the COVID period, however, one can take a loan based on University at a low interest. The difficulty level of the examination depends on the students as we have 50 per cent as the passing percentage and 85 per cent attendance criteria.
Internships Opportunities :
Currently, I am in my second year of college and will opt for an internship either at the end of the year in any shipyard or the third year in which we have a compulsory internship. After completion of the third year, every student is supposed to complete one internship in summer break. My seniors are doing internships in different shipyards and other firms related to ship design. Students mainly opt for Shipyards for internships because they get more exposure and knowledge. After all, it is related to our course and our field of knowledge. Most of the students get internships by applying to companies and giving interviews if required. The only things required for internships are skills and a decent CGPA.
Placement Experience :
According to recent year data, the placement rate is 95 per cent and other students opted for higher studies, top recruiting companies include IRS, L&T, Vedam Design, etc. The profile is of a surveyor and in companies like Vedam Design and Cyber Marine we have to work on software for designing ship structures. Students here target maintaining a decent CGPA and also learning soft skills which will help at the placement time. Most of the companies start visiting the campus in the 7th semester itself and at the end of the 7th semester, most of the students get placed and the remaining students are placed in the last semester. Some students also opt for MTech in the same college or different colleges like IIT Kharagpur and IIT Madras which offers the same course as we are having in our college. Here students learn different software that helps in designing the ship structures and learn about the different parts of the ship and their applications/
Campus Life :
The campus size is around 100 acres covered with mostly trees and plants, still there is construction work going on. There is a separate ground for Football, cricket, and basketball but work is going on to improve the quality of the ground. The Academic Building and Hostel are at a very much distance and can be reached there by walking. As of now, no fest is being organized by our campus after the COVID period, however, events like Diwali, Dussehra, and Holi are organized on our campus. There are different houses in our college and according to the skills that students have they are selected for houses, events, and house competitions are organized and at the end of the academic year the name of the winning house is declared. Students can also participate in fests organized by different colleges like Tempest by IMU Kolkata and Spring Fest by IIT Kharagpur. We have a Library in the academic section where all kinds of books are available.

Placement Experience :
Those students who are in 5th semister are eligible for campus placements. Around 70-80% students are placed every year in top reputed companies with decent salary. I received placement offer from TCS . That was because of placement cell of Ashoka.

The campus placement is really good . Most of the students get placed in small or big company at last the moto is to have a job not focusing on salary where the salary does not matter. above 75% is the eligibility to sit in the campus placement drive if the company give their eligibility criteria or else no.

Considering current job market the Placements and job opportunities are satisfactory with mass hiring companies such as Accenture, Infosys and Capgemini being the highest bulk recruiting service based companies where 20-30 students get placed out of a class of strength 70, students are asked to register in their Third year for placements , The eligibility criteria is to not have any active backlogs and ready with structured resume though students are filtered with their CGPA , they will be rounds of aptitude and problem solving and having good DSA background will help a lot . The Highest packages is from Infosys which give 16+ LPA to students with advanced DSA knowledge but majority are placed between 4.5 - 6 LPA . Many students opt for higher studies by preparing for competitive exams or use their strong alumni network to get referrals are big Tech companies.

The average annual hostel fee is around Rs. 48,000 per student (or roughly Rs. 3,000 - 4,000 per month.The campus offers separate hostels for boys and girls with furnished rooms. Students note that the rooms are kept tidy, well-lit, and offer options for both single and shared occupancy.

In my college,the highest package is 35lpa and lowest package is 2lpa. Many companies was visited to my college for placement like tech Mahindra, Infosys, auto desk. Coming to the placements, their was many competition to get the offer.

Students with cgpa greater than 9 are considered first for placements indirectly. They will get more companies. And there will be bulk hiring for most of the students. TCS , Cognizant etc will come . And I feel the placement training team CRCS will train the students mainly competitive programming . Because they focus more on this .Also they will teach you each and everything ranging from how to write the recruitment exam to how to attend the HR interview. Even if you want to go for higher studies, they will guide you through it. The average package is around 10 LPA. And the highest is 50 LPA. Most of the students are placed through the University placements itself.

Placement Experience :
Students generally are eligible for placements after completion of 3rd year. Top companies like amazon, Accenture, Infosys, paypal, TCS, etc offered placements last year with offers in range of 5-15 . Highest package is 44 LPA and average package is 9 LPA. Percentage of students placed is in the range of 70%-80%. I am planning to prepare for Bank exams after completion of graduation.

Job opportunities are countless for the students who are skilled. Both software and core jobs placements can be observerved in a wide range. Many multi national companies like deloitte, infosys, snovasys, TCS, Accenture are tied up with the campus for conducting drives.
