VIIT Admission Dates 2027

VIIT Visakhapatnam considers AP EAPCET, the Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test, and JEE Main for B.Tech admission. The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) conducts centralised online counselling and seat allotment. The tentative schedule for the 2027-28 cycle is given below.

Admissions to M.Tech, MBA and MCA follow separate entrance-exam schedules. M.Tech applicants may use GATE or AP PGECET, while MBA and MCA applicants follow the applicable CMAT or AP ICET route.

VIIT Courses and Fees

VIIT Visakhapatnam provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering, management and computer applications. B.Tech covers 11 traditional and emerging engineering fields. APSCHE regulations govern the fees, and the amounts below are for the complete programme rather than one academic year.

Every B.Tech branch has the same total fee of INR 2,74,800 under the APSCHE-regulated structure. This amount covers tuition and other yearly charges across all four years. M.Tech fees depend on the specialisation, and VLSI Design and Embedded Systems is placed in the highest fee band.

VIIT Admission Process

VIIT Visakhapatnam fills seats through merit in state-level and national-level entrance examinations administered through APSCHE. B.Tech admission is not available through a direct or management quota.

B.Tech Admission

Applicants need at least 45% aggregate marks in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. They must also have a valid AP EAPCET or JEE Main score. AP EAPCET is the main admission route for Andhra Pradesh domicile students, while candidates who qualify through JEE Main may seek Non-Local category seats at institutions in the state.

• Arrange the preferred colleges and branches in priority order.
• Confirm and lock the selected options before the stated deadline.
• Check the allotted seat and accept it through the portal.
• Visit VIIT with the original documents during the assigned reporting period.

M.Tech and PG Admissions

For M.Tech, students require at least 50% in B.Tech and a valid GATE or AP PGECET score. MBA applicants enter through CMAT or AP ICET, while AP ICET is used for MCA admission. APSCHE counselling processes these admissions. Ph.D. applicants must follow the institute’s separate notification and selection procedure.

VIIT Cutoffs

AP EAPCET closing ranks differ by branch, applicant volume and the number of seats available in a particular year. During the 2025 counselling process, CSE and Data Sciences had more competitive General category closing ranks than Civil and Mechanical Engineering.

Civil and Mechanical Engineering generally remain available at higher rank numbers than CSE and Data Sciences. Actual closing ranks can change each year according to seat intake and the number of applicants.

VIIT Placements

The Training and Placement Cell manages recruitment at VIIT Visakhapatnam. In the 2024-25 placement cycle, 1,215 students secured jobs through 124 companies, producing an 84.1% placement rate. NIRF 2025 data records a median package of INR 4.95 LPA. Placement percentages and salary offers are consistently higher in CSE, AI and Data Sciences than in the core engineering branches.

Recent top salary offers have come from product-based businesses and mid-sized technology companies. Most campus opportunities are in IT services, analytics and product engineering. Students from Civil, Mechanical and EEE mainly receive core-sector opportunities from manufacturing, infrastructure and power companies.

The institute uses the shared placement network of the Vignan Group, including recruiter connections across the Guntur and Visakhapatnam campuses. Its training cell also provides skill-development programmes and off-campus job support to students who do not receive an offer through campus recruitment.

VIIT Rankings

VIIT Visakhapatnam takes part in the National Institutional Ranking Framework for Engineering. It is among the few private autonomous engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh that combine a NAAC A+ grade, NBA-accredited programmes and a place in the NIRF 201-300 band.

The NAAC A+ grade covers institutional standards in academics, infrastructure and research output. NBA accreditation indicates that the relevant engineering programmes meet national professional education standards. Accreditation remains valid through 2027 for five B.Tech branches: CSE, ECE, EEE, IT and Mechanical Engineering.

VIIT Scholarships

VIIT Visakhapatnam provides merit awards to the highest-ranking students in every branch. Eligible students can also seek government support based on category, family income and other scheme conditions.

Government scholarship applications must be filed through the National Scholarship Portal before the deadline announced for that academic year. VIIT decides its institutional merit awards from year-end examination results and applies the waiver to the fee payable in the following year.

VIIT Campus and Infrastructure

VIIT Visakhapatnam occupies a 17-acre campus in Duvvada, a suburban area of Visakhapatnam district located 20 km from the city centre. Academic buildings, laboratories, the central library and student hostels are all situated within the campus.

A faculty of 344 members supports the 11 B.Tech departments and postgraduate courses. The laboratories serve traditional engineering subjects and newer fields, with dedicated facilities for artificial intelligence, data sciences, cyber security, VLSI and embedded systems. The central library is called Vignan Dhara and provides both printed and digital learning resources for every department.

Separate on-campus accommodation is available to male and female students. Duvvada gives students access to Visakhapatnam’s expanding industrial and IT park belt. NTPC, GAIL and Hindustan Petroleum operate near the campus area. Duvvada railway station is also close to the institute and provides connections to different parts of Andhra Pradesh.

VIIT vs GVP College of Engineering vs ANITS Visakhapatnam

Students seeking admission through AP EAPCET often assess VIIT alongside Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering (GVPCE) and Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences (ANITS). These three Visakhapatnam institutions are private autonomous colleges approved by AICTE, and they admit students from the same AP EAPCET applicant pool.

Founded in 1988, GVPCE has the longest history among the three and occupies a Madhurawada location closer to Visakhapatnam’s city centre and IT corridor. ANITS is based in Bheemunipatnam, offers a coastal campus setting and generally has lower cutoffs than VIIT and GVPCE. VIIT remains competitive because of its NAAC A+ grade, NBA accreditation for five branches and the Duvvada campus location near the industrial zone.
