- Connectivity from Airport was very bad with only 1 public bus in the early morning
- The hostels had twin-sharing and sometimes even triple-sharing accomodation
Remarks :
I cleared CAT with a fair overall score and appeared for the CAP (Common Admission Process for new and baby IIMs). The interview was a fairly smooth one, with both the interviewers being experienced faculty of IIM Ranchi. While I was on the waiting list, I doubted if I would at all convert any of the baby IIMs (I was actually waiting for IIM Bodh Gaya but converted Sirmaur first). The beautiful views of the campus (located at the heart of the Himalayas) and the scope of not having to wait for another year made me choose IIM Sirmaur.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum was the same as all other IIMs with options of choosing majors and minors (5 electives for major, and 3 electives for minor in the 4th, 5th, and 6th terms respectively). The overall academics were very hectic with lots of assignments, frequent tests, and scoring on class participation. Since a large percentage of the faculty members were guest lecturers, the teaching experience was a very diverse one. The exams were mostly application-based with real-life HBS case studies to be solved within a limited time. After each subject's exam, we had to give feedback to the faculty member and overall course.
Internships Opportunities :
I was a member of the Founding Team of a social entertainment startup and decided to work with the same team as part of my Summer Internship program. Many classmates did multiple internships and live projects throughout the year
Placement Experience :
Since I had good contacts in the industry, I decided to opt out of the Summer Placement as well as the Final Placement process and focus on learning. The placement process was regulated by the Placement Committee (constituting students and headed by a Faculty member).
Campus Life :
There were multiple clubs and committees, such as the Himalayan Owl, Marketing Club, Finance Club, etc that had rigorous selection procedures to match the best fit and interests. The library had a limited assortment of books, with very few literature works. The classrooms were well-equipped with projectors and room heaters (to beat the cold of Himachal). I often spent my leisure time going for walks along less-trodden paths, onto the mustard fields near the campus, or spending some time on the banks of the Yamuna River passing just by the campus. The food in the mess was okayish but Bengalis will find it somewhat completely out-of-taste, especially because the lunch was always vegetarian.

Placements are decent. Eligibility is typically at CGPA 6.0 or higher. Recruiters include TCS, Infosys ,Oracle, Wellsfargo etc.Highest package this year reached around 3 crores per annum as it was a foreign offer.

I choose ba as I needed a bachelors degree to pursue llb . All the faculty members are highly qualified and well educated and every teacher has their own teaching method. The exams are conducted annually for BA which is not very difficult

placement are good many cse students have package in crores i think cse nad ece branch is good but other branch package is around 10 lakh if i would suggest students i suggest go for cse or ece branch because in the era of artificial intelligence nad machine learning these two branches are booming and the package are also best in these branches you can also try for gate exam after the civil mechanical or electrical you can get jib in public plus private jobs

The placement opportunities are given by institute. There is a placement committee. A few visited recruiters are ICICI,HDFC, DE Shaw, Deloitte, EY, etc. the average package of IIM sirmaur ranges around 14-15 LPA. All students get placed and is supported by institute.
