All About DSNLU

What I Liked

infrastructure , weather , here infrastructure is excellent compared to other nlus great mess and academic block
college primacies library has all books available

What I didn’t like

hostel washrooms are not that great and clean
situated outside city far from city takes around 2 hours to get there

Placement Experience:

placements are good average package is 6 lakhs per annum we have placement cell but mostly students opt for their own resources in placements around 40 to 50 % students get jobs from placements here mostly students prepare for competitive exams

Remarks:

to enter DSNLU we have to appear for CLAT conducted every year after qualification during counselling according to rank and cut off the university is allotted there are no interviews this college is very feasible for south side students not preferably for north students they may not settle under the conditions of here there are many north students it doesnt mean its totaly bad for north students its decent university for all students no discrimination on rank basis every one is treated equally

Course Curriculum Overview:

The qualification of teachers was phd and pg graduates there were friendly and very knowledgeable and per year there was two misters and midsemster and project and viva and end semester. And very good

Remarks:

Through CLAT we can get a seat in the college and there is no interview and group discussion and there is cutoff was there for exam and there is cutoff is based on question paper . There is different coaching centre for these exam.

All about DSNLU

Placement Experience:

Many students get placed every academic year. Even students get pre-placement offers quite often in our university which are based upon their internship experience. Committees like RCC and ICC guide the students about internships and placements.

Remarks:

There would be an entrance exam called "CLAT", which is conducted every year in the month of december. Clat is a common exam for all NLU's except NLU Delhi. Any law aspirant who wants to get into NLU, must attempt clat. Only the people who score good will be allotted seats ( same as JEE & NEET). Cut-off differs from year to year based on the difficulty of the paper. One has to apply for counseling after the release of the results, to get into an NLU (the NLU would be awarded based on your score in the exam and your preference list). The atmosphere and infrastructure of the university is very good. Faculty is well experienced and helpful in all time. University/college life is great all over. Many academic and cultural events takes place throughout the year. All the students are interactive and ready to help when needed.

A pleasant developing NLU.

What I Liked

The first thing I like is the campus life. You get to know your seniors and juniors personally through many of the events that are organised in the campus throughout the year. You learn many things during your college tenure. The campus consists of academic block that includes all classrooms, faculty cabins and library , mess that is common for boys and girls, hostels separate for boys and girls, and a huge ground for many sports activities that include basketball, football, lawn tennis, cricket ground and practise nets. The yearly conduction of intra competition that are held between the batches is the major highlight in the campus. Where the students who are interested either in culturals or sports can represent their batch inorder to win an overall championship. These matches do get more intense during the game play and the latter. Hence I like the campus life in my college that include both curricular and extra curricular activities.
The next is the Internship opportunities that are provided to develop your learning skills specially through practical knowledge where you get to know how to work as a lawyer and where majority of the doubts get clarified and majority of the knowledge is gained through internships. University provides a 2 month summer break during May and June and 1 month winter break during December during which a student is obliged to get an internship in any court or under any senior advocate or in any legal firm or any company of your own interest. For the course to get complete there is a minimum of atleast 4 weeks internship per year to complete for good placements and etc. hence I like the internships that are provided in the campus while you also likely to get to know many senior people that are present in the world of law.
I also like the infrastructure that is built in the campus. It is a new campus which is recently built from nearly 10 year to back was built. Once you compare to many NLUs the infrastructure in DSNLU is lot better than many universities providing you better experience in the campus. The Academic block, mess and hostels along with trees grown all around and in the campus give you a pleasant experience in the campus.
The weather is one thing that I like about my college. This university is present in sabbavaram near to vizag which provides a pleasant atmosphere without any traffic noises or any disturbances from the public. The area also give view to many scenic skies that is famous in the campus specially during monsoon where hills nearby will not be visible and gets behind the cloud.

What I didn’t like

The things that is a bit troubling is that inorder to get to any near by city that is Visakhapatnam you need to travel 30 kms that takes an hour to reach the city for any major needs. Minimum need are available at the campus and nearby the campus itself but for something major you need to travel to the city by a bus or your personal transport.
Sometimes its the faculty or the management that try to go against the students while bringing new rules to campus life which sometimes bring rise to some protest or any issues in the campus that are there in every university and though it gets an issue around the campus we get to protest and also it being the part of campus life we don’t regret going through this experience.

Placement Experience:

Every student has to maintain minimum good marks to go through the campus placement opportunities. Every year many recruiters come to the campus to provide placements to the students and some include SAM, CAM associates and also some from the banking sector like HDFC etc. highest package could be around 12-14 lakhs LPA and the average package is around 8-10 LPA. The Recruitment Coordination Committee (RCC) runs the recruitment drive on the campus. There’s also the Internships Coordination Committee (ICC) that makes sure students apply to internships during the 2-month of summer break and 1-month winter break so that the students can get some practical knowledge by working as interns in either courts or law firms as per their interest in the subject. Internships also play a major role during placements as for the internships you get to meet a lot of recruiters who can recruit you there or it will upgrade your CV. For now, I’m not sure about my plans depending on placement I get.

Remarks:

I am a student with no legal background. It was my mother’s idea to pursue law and while she was looking out for options she found this newsletter describing the process of joining NLUs that are present all over the country. Every NLU has an entrance test by name- CLAT (Common Law Admission Test). It was the same for my college too, prepared for CLAT for like 3 months took an online crash course and gave an attempt for this exam. Got a decent rank and was admitted to DSNLU, Vizag. Before admission, I went through a verification process where they verified you on an online platform asking me to show you the certificates that I have put in throughout the process. It has been around 10 years since the university was established and has a good remark and reputation for its overall process. The university not only consists of the local faculty but even the ones from outside the local area are also present teaching the students. Also, they arrange seminars for the students by inviting faculty.
