Established in 2012, the Tamil Nadu National Law University is the first national level law university in TamilNadu. It is recognised by the UGC and BCI. Additionally, and is also a member of the AIU. TNNLU offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across various fields of study.

For undergraduate courses, TNNLU offers two five-year integrated courses, one of which is BA LLB Hons. To be eligible for admission, the candidate must have completed 10+2 from a recognised board and hold a valid CLAT Score. The intake for this course is 60 students and the annual fee is Rs 1,66,500.

The Internship and Placement Cell at TNNLU facilitates and generates numerous opportunities for its students. Organisations like Trilegal, Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan, Commercial Law Advisors, ALG India Law Offices LLP, and P Wilson Associates have recruited young workforce from this university. In 2021, India Today ranked the college 30 under Law stream.

TNNLU Scholarships

TNNLU offers scholarship and financial aid under the Financial Assistance Scheme. The scheme offers full or partial waiver of fees, based on the students families’ financial studies. Students may apply, subject to eligibility, for scholarships of respective states or of the Government of India.

  • SC/ST students are exempted from paying tuition fees for the programme’s entire duration. The expense is borne by the Tamil Nadu Government.
  • Students admitted under Tamil Nadu Government School Quota are exempted from all the fees, except refundable deposits. The fee expense is borne by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
  • Candidates from BC, MBC and DNC categories may apply to scholarship schemes of the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and the Denotified Communities Welfare Department of Government of Tamil Nadu.
  • Eligible candidates of Tamil Nadu who are first graduates in their family can apply for the First Graduate Scholarship.
  • Eligible minority students can apply to the Minorities Welfare Department scholarships.

TNNLU is a fully-residential learning community. Hostel accommodation is present on-campus and there is a hostel and a dining mess for men and women, each. For dining and catering, mess timings are fixed and students must adhere to them. For undergraduate students, rooms are allotted on a sharing basis. Students pursuing post graduation are allotted single rooms, based on availability. The hostel has amenities like

Ques. Are there any reservations for Specially Abled Children at TNNLU?

Ans. Yes, there is a 5% reservation for people from the following categories.

Ques. How is the library at TNNLU?

Ans. The 3-storeyed Library Block consists of the TNNLU Library, which has an excellent collection of print and E-Resources. The print collection includes text and reference books sections, major law reports and other periodicals. Remote access is provided for all the e-resources. The block houses the Legal History Museum as well as the TNNLU Moot Court Hall. There are three spacious reading rooms and six group discussion

rooms for the moot teams’ research. A separate study hall has been built aiming at students’ uninterrupted study. There is an E-Library with about 25 desktop computers

with WiFi connectivity as well. The library is also equipped with a Photocopier Section on its third floor.

Day. There is also a qualified nurse available in the University, round the clock. In an emergency, the University has access to the Ambulance (Service by Govt of Tamil Nadu) stationed in the campus which also caters to the people in nearby villages.

With regard to mental health, a full-time qualified resident counsellor is available for the TNNLU
