Life at TNNLU: Challenging but Rewarding

What I Liked

The best part of the college is that professor are very interactive. Some professor like Mr. Azad who teaches Securites and Competition Law to senior students is very knowledgeable. He is founding faculty here, and make complex things very easy to understand.
Campus life is very peaceful. The schedule is not too hectic, you have classes at 9 am and it gets finished by 4 pm (in between there is 15 minutes snacks break, and 1 hour lunch break too).
People prepare for the Judiciary exam when they enter there 4th year, due to the flexibility provided by the university. There are dedicated books available at library for competitive exams as well.

What I didn’t like

There is a certain level of locational disadvantage.
The campus is not that vast and when compare to facilities which students at NALSAR, NLU Jodhpur, and GNLU gets, you definitely feel that there is a certain level of improvement which TNNLU needs to do.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenerio is not that good due to being a growing NLU. Still our campus was successful in brining firms like Trilegal on board for campus placement. The highest package offered here is 16 lakhs and the average package is 6 lakhs. the percentage of students getting placement is 20. My plan after getting the degree is to work with some Boutique Law firm.

Internships Opportunities:

Worked with Khaitan and CO (Rs. 8 k stipend) Worked as Research Assistant to Assistant Professor at NLS, Mr. Rahul Hemrajani (Rs. 7 k stipend) Worked with Royzz and Co (Rs. 10 k stipend) Worked as a student Ambassdor of Easten Book Company (Rs. 8 k stipend every semester)

Considering TNNLU? Here's a primer for you!

What I Liked

The diversity is maximum and there is an extablished alumini association. The seniors are super helpful.
The hostel are very comfortable in terms of laundry, they have washing machines which can beused throughout the day. The rooms are spacious for three people.

What I didn’t like

The college is situatued 12KM away from the main city. Autos and cabs are too costly, the buses are irregular.
The hostels get too hot in the summers.

Placement Experience:

About internships, there is an internship and placement cell that facilitates the students with internship opportunities. As for placements, there is no campus interview, but there are pre-placement offers that firms like Trilegal and LKS give exclusively to students from the University. The selection is based on the discretion of the firms. Internships can be availed through the Internships and Placements cell and the students can apply and avail internships independently.

Tamilnadu national law University (should you join?)

What I Liked

Basketball Court, Badminton Court and the Campus during evenings look soo pretty 😍.

What I didn’t like

Lack of a proper gym, eateries and connectivity issues.
There is one downside though that is the university is quite far away from the city and it takes around 20 mins to reach by auto and around 30 minutes by bus.

Placement Experience:

The placement cell works hard to bring companies and our seniors have been placed in many of the leading law firms in the country. Since this is relatively a new university the alumni base isn't so strong but the seniors are very helpful. There have been a few recruiters from Chennai(mostly litigation-based law firms) but they offer a decent package for the industry standards.

Internships Opportunities:

I have worked with one law firm in Chennai, one corporate firm in Bangalore, and currently in an IP Law firm based out of Delhi and Noida. The stipend is usually less than around 10k depending on your organization(it's rare but you can get a decent stipend based on the city as well).
