Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), also known as the Pusa Institute, is India’s National Institute for agricultural research, education, and extension. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) funds and administers the Institute, which is based in Delhi. IARI Delhi was also in charge of the research that led to the 1970s “Green Revolution in India.”

IARI has the status of a "Deemed-to-be-University" under the UGC Act of 1956 and offers MSs/M.Tech & PhD courses in various agricultural disciplines.
The current campus is a self-contained sylvan complex spread over an area of 500 hectares (approximately 1250 acres) and is situated about 8 km (5 miles) west of New Delhi.
20 divisions make up the Institute. There are 10 national Centers operating under the all India coordinated research projects, as well as 5 multidisciplinary centres based in Delhi, 2 off-season nurseries, 8 regional stations, and 3 All India coordinated research projects with headquarters at IARI.
Its authorized staff size is 3540, which includes administrative, technical, scientific, and support staff.

IARI is the leading institute in the country for agricultural research and education.
The Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute is a part of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute and is situated on its campus.
The institute is facilitated with ASRB Online examination centre, Library, Hostel, Indoor and Outdoor sports ground, Auditorium, Farm machinery testing, Pesticide Referral Laboratory, SEM Facility etc.
IARI has various national and international collaborations with following organizations: Ministry of Environment and Forest, Potash and Phosphate Institute of Canada (PPIC), United State Agency for International Development (USAID), International Development Research Centre (IDRC), etc.

IARI Admission 2022

IARI currently provides applicants with MSc, M.Tech, and Ph.D. degrees in 26 different fields. For Postgraduate and Ph.D. courses, IARI holds separate entrance exams. Admission to the M.Sc. and M.Tech. programmes are based on the results of the entrance exam. While admittance to the Ph.D. programme is based on a candidate’s performance on the entrance exam (80% weighted), academic performance (10% weighted), and an interview (10 percent weightage).

Admission to the M.Sc. & M.Tech. programme entails the start of a written entrance exam, evaluation of the answer sheet, clarification of the results, and distribution of the merit list.
The Ph.D. degree course admissions procedure is broken down into three stages: a written test, an assessment of academic performance, and an interview test. The final grade will be determined by the total score across all three levels.
The institute simultaneously releases the admission announcement in newspapers and online.
Candidates appearing for the last year of their bachelor’s degree can also apply for M.Sc. and M.Tech. degree programmes.

How to Apply?

IARI Application form 2022 will be released soon on the official website of the institute. For the MSc, M.Tech, and Ph.D. programmes, the application process is standard. The application form is available online on the website of the institute, and it must be submitted to the Academic Council with all necessary documentation before the deadline. Steps to fill up the application form are as follows:

Step 1. Go to the official website of IARI.
Step 2. Register using Email ID and Mobile no.
Step 3. Select the Admission menu item from the Academics tab.
Step 4. On the Admission page, separate links for the Ph.D. and postgraduate applications will be provided.
Step 5. After clicking the link, fill up the online application form carefully and note the system generated application number.
Step 6. Upload scanned images of candidates’ photograph, signature, and thumb impression.
Step 7. Pay the fee using SBI/ Canara/ HDFC/ ICICI/ Paytm through Credit card/ Debit Card/ Net banking/ UPI and keep the proof of payment.
Step 8. Confirmation page will generate for successful form submission.

IARI Scholarships

Students in post-graduate studies at the IARI are frequently offered a scholarship or fellowship. It is granted to students as part of the General Open Competition Scheme within a few guidelines.
The monthly scholarships for the MSc and PhD candidates are valued 7,560 INR and 13,125 INR, respectively.
There are scholarships available for students in the services, and they receive an additional payment of roughly 3,000 INR each month on top of their pay.

Ans. The Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and Interview make up the IARI Young Professional II selection process. Candidates who pass the preliminary exam will be able to take the main exam. Candidates who pass the main exam will be qualified to take the interview, which is the last step.
