Course Description

IIT Delhi M.Sc is a two-year program offered at the postgraduate level. There are a total of 5 specializations offered over 254 seats for the M.Sc course at IIT Delhi. Moreover, IIT Delhi recently launched a new academic program ‘M.Sc. in Biological Sciences’. IIT Delhi M.Sc admission is based on IIT JAM Score and seats are allocated via JOAPS Counselling. IIT Delhi MSc cutoff overall for the general category remained at 60-320 rank.

To be eligible for IIT Delhi M.Sc admission, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Science stream or any relevant degree with at least 60% of aggregate or 6.5 CGPA.

IIT Delhi MSc Highlights

IIT Delhi admission to the M.Sc course is given on the basis of IIT JAM exam. However, for admission to IIT Delhi (Economics), candidates have to take a written test and for IIT Delhi (Cognitive Sciences), the COGJET score is accepted followed by a personal interview.
The application fee for IIT JAM 2024 is INR 900 for one paper and INR 1,250 for two papers for SC, ST, PwD, and female candidates. However, the application fees for all other candidates are INR 1,800 for one paper and INR 2,500 for two papers.
The seats for admission to IIT Delhi M.Sc course is allotted through IIT Jam counselling. In 2024, IIT Madras is set to release IIT JAM 2024 first admission list on May 31, 2024, based on the applications received from the candidates who have scored above the JAM 2024 cutoff.
For the academic year 2024-25, the IIT JAM 2024 counselling process will be conducted for over 3000 seats across 89 postgraduate programs in 21 IITs. The counselling process will be completely online and is divided into four rounds. Candidates must pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 750 to participate in admission process.

IIT Delhi MSc Eligibility and Selection Criteria

The eligibility and selection criteria for IIT Delhi M.Sc admission are given below:

It is mandatory to hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant stream with a minimum 55% aggregate marks or should be appearing in the final year of a bachelor's degree in Science. Candidates belonging to reserved categories must have at least 50%marks at the UG level.
For admission to M.Sc, it is mandatory to appear for IIT JAM. The final admissions will be based on the IIT JAM score followed by counselling.

Selection for the MSc program typically relies on the IIT JAM entrance scores, followed by the JAM counselling process. However, admission to the MSc Cognitive Sciences program is based on valid scores from the COGJET exam and subsequent personal interview rounds. Alternatively, applicants with valid GATE/JAM/CSIR/JRF/NET scores are also eligible to apply. In such cases, the COGJET exam requirement is waived, and candidates only need to participate in an interview. For MSc Economics admissions, applicants are required to take the Entrance Test conducted by IIT Delhi.

IIT Delhi Admission Process

Candidates applying via the IIT JAM exam must use the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS). Here are the steps for JOAPS registration in 2024:

Apply for the exam online.
Upload necessary documents like photograph, signature, category certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate (if applicable), etc.
Pay the application fee using electronic payment methods.
Monitor the status of the application form.
